Yesterday I had to stay at home because I had some repairs getting done at my flat, and my internet didn't work for some strange reason all day.
So I started "Like a Dragon" which has been sitting on my Xbox's hard disk for a few weeks now.

Holy shit, that thing is like 90% dialogue cut scenes, 5% walking to a spot on the map where the next dialogue happens and 5% "fights". Some of the cut scenes went on so fucking long that my controller disconnected.

The fights are so easy, that you almost cannot lose them. "Tactics" wise, it was eating a snack from time to up your life points. The only thing that felt remotely like I had any influence on what's happening in the fight was the "perfect guard" mechanic. Even "Costume Quest" had more tactics customization and player skill involvement than this.

I only lost in the first big boss fight, which is not a big problem, since you can do that one as many times as you want anyway, if I am not mistaken.

The mini games are extremely easy as well... I am sure my 4 year old son could do them first try.

I played the game for three hours, because I though if I cannot watch a movie on Netflix, then why not just watch this.
But I think I will never touch it again if the rest of the game is that dumb.

This is literally not a game anymore in my view, but a bad movie with a tacked on short time walking simulator.

It's definitely a movie game. Kinda like MGS and FF (except better). It's also an asset flip because every Yakuza share ~70% of content with other Yakuza games.
I think the humor and storytelling are quite good, at least in Yakuza 0. These games have an identity of their own and can be entertaining at times.

I picked up Infinite Wealth earlier this year. My first foray into the Yakuza series.

Holy crap I loved it. Played it to completion and did all the side quests.

I agree, although I haven't played it. I picked up Yakuza 0 because of all the praise and it was way too much dialogue/cutscenes with not enough game. I got bored after a few hours and put it down. Sounds like all the games in the series are the same so it's just not for me.

Like a Dragon was their first foray into a jrpg, the gameplay definitely is on the super easy side. The sequel is a huge improvement in this area. Starting with the Kiryu games would make you appreciate 7's story more. Although, it does a good job as being a starting point for newcomers, its still the 7th entry of the mainline series.

Yeah they're basically crime drama, if you can't sit through the first few hours of 0 to get to the meat I think most of the series will not be for you. Although Lost Judgment and Like a Dragon Gaiden have the most gameplay to main story ratio, you can give those a shot if you ever want to try again.
