How many games do we have left? This is getting difficult now. ME2 is probably my personal favourite Mass Effect game even if it stumbles in regard to certain plot elements. It was just such a massive improvement over the original in so many ways, from gameplay, combat and inventory.

Half-Life 2 is still a gold standard shooter though and bought with it so many incredible technological advancements that it's hard to overlook. From the expressive facial animations, physics, amazing scenery and world realised with the might of Source...

Difficult choice.

I think I just enjoy Mass Effect 2's whole thing more than I do Half-Life.

This one hurts. HL2 is special to me, on a deep personal level because of the circumstances when I got it.

But ME2 is the better game, I replayed it many times, explored everything the game had to offer.

Both games are good, but both have their flaws.Today I'm going to vote ME2, but it's a tough one for sure. I hated the shitty giant Terminator boss battle at the end of ME2, but I also hated the unresolved cliffhanger ending of HL2 as well.

ME2.

I almost prefer the "eurojank" of ME1, but ME2 is the one that stuck in my head.

Half-life 2 I played on OG XBox first, and the shitty frame rate and tearing made me nauseated. Picked up with Orange Box on 360 many years later and I liked it, but also I understand why the "boomer shooter" movement happened.

I had to go ME2 as well. Despite the introduction of the Source engine and advancements in physics, HL2 never hooked me like the original Half-Life. In ME it was the opposite, where ME2 is the one that sucked me in like a Dyson and be came one of my favorite games of that generation.

ME2 is one of the strongest action RPGs of its era, with a cast every bit as good as the first. Mordin, Thane and Legion are some of my favorite characters in any game. Even as someone who pre-ordered Half-Life 2, it was a bit of a let down compared to the original Half-Life and I still dislike the ending to this day.

The implementation of the Physics was amazing, but the combat wasn't a huge step up from the first game and the ending was some real blue balls stuff.
