My only immediate thought: Can they PLEASE not fuck it up with forced diversity? Pls? Keep the white main characters white, pls. No black Hermione, no asian Ron or some shit. Pls :/ Also no gay or trans shit, these are CHILDREN, just leave it all out, sigh.

Again. Troon reaction:

Rowling may allow some diversity to sneak in, but hopefully they keep the main trio white.

Hyped. It will be cool to see them spend more time in the world and I trust JK to not let them fuck it up

Ah yes, J Hermoine is black and Dumbledore is gay K. Don't forget the woman is a liberal, just cause the woman doesnt buy into the troon apocalypse doesnt mean the potential for pozzation does not exist.

If they wanted to make a standalone Hogwarts show that'd be cool, but remaking Harry Potter again and just making it significantly longer? Why? Who's asking for ridiculous liberties to be taken on a franchise that really doesn't need any with the Author doing her own damage as is.

Hogwarts show I'd be cool for, but more Harry Potter bullshit?! Also since this is on HBO are we getting violence and tits? Otherwise what is HBO thinking

Good luck getting that faithful adaptation*, Rowling.

*Race and gender swaps won't count. The show HAS to look like the world we live in. Diversity! Representation! Reeeeeee!

I hope she has some sense this time and not allow a fucking black Hermione just to appease the woke crowd.

If the heroes are color-washed, it's an instant no-watch. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid, McGonnagal, Dumbledore, Snape, etc. are white. Deal with it, it's a BRITISH wizarding school.

I thought the books were pretty clear Harry was black and Ron was trans. Not sure what you guys were reading but i distincly remember the chapter about Rons penis implant surgery and Harry going to the bodegga to get menthola and fried chicken.

I would have waited another 10 years before doing this (just like LoTR) as the films don't feel old or out of date yet.

If these are done really well and do a better job following the books than the films it could be a good thing. I like the first few HP films, but they skip a lot of fairly important stuff.

Black Hermione is one she specifically mentioned back when that Cursed Child play was going and it had a black actress as Hermione. "Hermione could have been black," she said, or something like that.

I'd put money on it. Hermione's the most intelligent and capable member of the crew, of course she'll be black.

Then again there's the Weasleys. We all know what Hollywood does to gingers.

I rewatched all films recently. They feel old.

Plus, the movies only show like 1/10 of the books' materials. Also, it's important to have Rowling working on it. In 10 years, Rowling is dead.

Yeah, some of the movies did an awful job with the adaptation.

Half-Blood Prince was an atrocity compared to the book, which might be my fave.
Prisoner of Azkaban also with not even mentioning Harry's dad and the Marauders. Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets will stand the test of time, the following movies won't.

Cutting away from the start of the most insane quidditch match in the entire series with the world cup in Goblet of Fire.

Also this should have been animated, it would have saved a lot of problems that will ensue from being live action and attempting to cover 7 years.

Made the mistake of assuming it would be a different timeline in the lore, following a new cast of students. Oh look, I already put more effort into this than Max did.

The one full-episode per season spent on the year's quidditch finale is gonna be worth it alone. Always annoyed me how much the movies cut away from that part of the books.

Thr books are a lot better than the movies. They cut a fuckton out, significantly changed characters and entirely changed major plot elements for the films.

One of the biggest differences being Ginnie Weasely, who in the movies is a dull nobody with barely any lines, even less personality and a completely forced and unnatural romance with Harry that comes out of nowhere.

Book Ginnie is one of the best characters in the whole story and has an incredibly well written character arc, is core to multiple plot points and her relationship with Harry is incredibly well paced and naturally forming.

Also the books make Quidditch sound bloody amazing.

I'd also get the audio books, as Stephen Fry narrates them perfectly.

Supposedly the new streaming series is going to be more accurate to the books.

It's also going to be a lot more woke than the movies, which weren't very woke at the time.

Aye. I fully expect a significant part of the cast be race swapped at the very least.

Shit they already made hermione black for the cursed child play, that wouldn't be a surprise. Let's see black Cho Chang.

Not really hyped for this series. I've watched the movies but never read the books, so accuracy to their lore and plot points is not something I'm familiar with. If it turns out to be a good show then that's fine. I'm for more quality fantasy programming (Arcane: League of Legends, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) airing onscreen than most of the crap (Netflix The Witcher, Rings of Power) we've been forced to sit through. But I'll be disappointed if Rowling bows to the woke and allows muh diversity to infect this. She's already Public Enemy No 1 in the eyes of these libtards so why keep trying to appease them?

I just hope she sticks it to the original trio (Radcliffe, Watson, Grint) and doesn't allow them any cameos here. Fuck them.
