Thread: Have I been making pasta wrong all this time ?
But you rinse the pasta off with hot water to get rid of starches on said pasta. Starches are going to fuck up your arteries. Fuck anyone who thinks a little bit more sauce on a damn noodle = risking heart disease / coronary artery disease

Nutrition Facts

There are many types of pasta, and all of them will vary slightly in terms of overall nutrient content. A 1-cup serving of cooked spaghetti, for example, provides approximately 220 calories, of which 78 percent come from carbohydrates. Whole-wheat pasta provides slightly fewer calories, with about 175 per cup cooked, of which 85 percent come from carbohydrates. The "Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2010" recommends that 45 to 65 percent of your calories come from carbohydrates. Pasta mainly contains low-glycemic carbohydrates that are released slowly to supply you with a steady source of energy after your meal.

Starches

Of the 42.5 grams of carbohydrates found in 1 cup of cooked spaghetti, for example, 2.5 grams are fiber and the remaining 40 grams are starches. The carbohydrates found in whole-wheat spaghetti are also mainly in the form of starch, with about 31 grams of starches and 6.3 grams of fiber out of the 37 grams of carbohydrates found per cup cooked. Starchy carbohydrates are mainly found in the flours of grains as well as in starchy vegetables, such as potatoes and yams.
