Thread: Has anyone here ever sold a Lego set?
I have a number of unopened Lego sets collecting dust and zero desire to build them. Is there an easy way to sell them?

I sold all my Star Wars sets on eBay a couple years ago. Even opened sets only go up in value, so offloading unopened sets is going to net you some serious cash. I think I sold 5 sets and cleared $700.

Nice.

Unopened, I've got:
Ghostbusters Firehouse
Palace Cinema
Ecto 1
1989 Batmobile
BTTF Time Machine
And a few others

I basically just collect the Christmas and certain other holiday sets now, along with interesting decor (love my bonsai on my desk) and Technic-like sets. Licensed sets are not for me for the most part (although the Voltron set is awesome).

Sold a couple I have spares of early on, but they can double in value over 2-3 years so I am trying to build up some inventory so I can support buying with selling eventually. Like the Christmas train set - I bought four of them for $100 each and now can easily get $300 gross for them. Especially because I got the old superior Power Functions with them.

I'm sure all the nerd shit will sell well, not sure how much generic sets like the palace thing go for. I'd recommend eBay because you are selling to collectors that know what this shit is worth opposed to something like Facebook Marketplace where you are dealing with parents trying to get LEGO sets for their kids on the cheap.

Is there a place I can just walk into? Not a fan of online places like EBay. I think the last thing I sold on EBay was my E3 Xbox360 nameplate that I snagged at the pre conference before the system came out.

You could always take them to your local comic book store, but I think you'd be severely crippling your potential income. They'd probably only give you a fraction of what they are worth. If you really don't want to go the eBay route just cross reference listings there for what you should be getting for them and only entertain serious offers on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist or whatever app people use for that shit these days.

You can sell them on Facebook marketplace pretty easily. I have done it. eBay isn't hard ether. The bttf car is being discontinued if it is the big one. So that may fetch a fair price soon. The others probably should as well.

I have a lot of unbuilt sets too.

I've never had Facebook
