Can't wait to see him fight orange man and space man.
According to an upcoming issue of Empire, the film's opening will be set in 1944 – about eight years after the events in Raiders took place. De-aging technology will have Ford going up against Nazis in a castle. Old footage of the actor was utilized to help create the illusion, along with the actor's original jacket from Raiders.
De-aging technology so far has been notoriously less-than believable, with actors ranging from Robert De Niro in The Irishman to Kurt Russell in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 often appearing like stiff Polar Express versions of themselves.

But Ford insists the new film, which hasn't yet revealed its title, successfully pulls off a retro Indy. "This is the first time I've seen [the technology] where I believe it," the actor said. "It's a little spooky. I don't think I even want to know how it works, but it works."

After the sequence, the film's narrative will leap forward to 1969 – using Ford as his current self – and that's when the bulk of the action takes place.

Mangold explains he wanted "the chance to dive into this kind of full-on George [Lucas]-and-Steven [Spielberg] old picture and give the audience an adrenaline blast. So that the audience doesn't experience the change between the '40s and '60s as an intellectual conceit, but literally experiences the buccaneering spirit of those early days."

Their hope, producer Kathleen Kennedy added, was that audiences would watch the opening and think, "'Oh my God, they just found footage.'"

Indy 5 will arrive a full 15 years after the last Indiana Jones film, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which many fans and critics considered to be a disappointment. Previously, Ford's co-star in the film, Mads Mikkelsen, told The Hollywood Reporter that Indy 5 is "going heavily back to the first and second film and getting that original feel, the original Indy, something dense and epic" and told an anecdote about Ford's stamina.

"[Ford]s an insanely powerful person," Mikkelsen says. "Not just as an actor, but physically. I remember the first day we were shooting, it was a night shoot, then we stopped at 5 a.m. — and then he got on his mountain bike and went biking for 50 kilometers [31 miles]. Harrison is a monster of a man, a very nice monster."

Indy 5 will be released in theaters June 30, 2023.

What if this tech got so good they started just shooting new seaons of 20+ year old shows and de-aged all the actors to look like they did back when the show was popular? Then just have it follow the storyline like nothing happened.

I can just imagine the 60+ year olds from Friends having their cartoons make a new season, shit like that. Big Bang Theory, The Office, any of the shows that idiots today watch on repeat for the 15th time on their streaming service. They just take the geriatric actors and pretty much just pay them for their likeness to poorly act again and let cartoons fill in the gaps.

More evidence to support that rumour about the plot being that old Indy and Strong Female Character time travel, then go on an adventure alongside young Indy, before either A) old Indy dies and she takes over in 'current times', or B) Young Indy dies, old Indy ceases to exist, and she will take over in the past so they can make gender swapped remakes.

It's going to be great.

Seeing how straight up Nazis are very much a thing in todays radicalized climate, with one whole party in the US being full of them, them threatening basic human rights like reproductive healthcare and even threatening Democracy itself, I think it's more important than ever to have Nazis as the bad guys here.
what a loon of a take. Everything I don't like is a Nazi is a weird take. I would recommend you read a book or two before coming to such inane conclusions.

There is a place to talk politics on this forum.....this really isn't it.

Hopefully against the Naziest one of all.

Are there not other bad guys?

For some reason (*coughMcCarthywasrightcough*) it is considered unacceptable for media to glorify the killing of Communists or show them negatively. Even Crystal Skull did not really demonize them in any way.

Like, if someone made a Wolfenstein-esque game where you fight Robo-Stalin or something you know people would be screeching about it because Communism is quietly but implicitly treated as a legitimate political movement.

Hmmm.

On the one hand I am like "Fighting Nazi again? Like again?"

But the other hand remembers the two times he didn't fight Nazi…. [shutters].

Then I realize, it doesn't matter cuz it is more than likely going to be trash.

I was actually thinking a few nights back how I should adopt a little Asian boy because having a sidekick would be cool.

I'd love to be wrong but I'm expecting this movie to be mega trash. And I'm not one of those people clinging to James Mangold to save the day. He's still making a Disney movie under this current regime.

What if old indy young indy and Strang Female have a wild threesome and then she becomes her own mother and the Indys her fathers.

And I still like Temple of Doom the most, because it's not "fighting Nazis" (the Sowjets in Indi4 were just Nazis in a different uniform, imo) but a traditional Pulp story.
