Here are my expectations of Independence Day celebrations, what will you be doing/eating?

You going back for the sponges? @Mickmrly

Nothing planned for today. Washing cars/bikes. Cleaning house. My lady friend is at work all day. Probably wait for my neighbors to go bananas with the fireworks.

Don't forget to cheer some flag burning :)
"A flag is supposed to represent everything that a country does. It doesn't only represent the good things. If you burn the flag, you're burning the flag for what you perceive to be the bad things the country has done. it's only a symbol. It's only a piece of cloth."

Go tell the families of all the US Service men and women that died in wars protecting our country that the flag is only a piece of cloth ..maybe they'll be able to change your perspective rather than using a comedian's

In Hawaii and hoping for some great fireworks.

Happy 4th and stay safe out there. There are a lot of crazy's

Flag burning is protected under freedom of speech. Ironically, it's one of the most American and patriotic things you can do. Those men and women died for our right to burn the flag.

ah yes but what about buildings or the violent attacks that have occurred due to leftist irresponsibility?

I wouldn't say it's patriotic but everything else you said is correct .. even more so to show respect for our troops

Very much agreed. Lots of veterans in my family.

Fwiw, I've never burned a flag in my life. I just absolutely support the rights of others to do so. That's what this country is all about imho.

Hear that?
That's the sound of a half-dozen news articles being re-written now that they can't make this look like Clarence Thomas did it.

It's patriotic to protect those rights, it's not patriotic to actually burn the flag. It's like saying it's patriotic to put on a furry costume, wrap a diaper around your loins and twerk in the middle of a public park. It's a protected right, but it sure as hell is not patriotic.

edit: removing this post to keep the celebration positive since we have a thread for the other bullshit.

Ended up watching Gran Torino again. That's a very pro America movie imo.
