Thread: GmanLives: Grand Theft Auto 4 Is Still A Masterpiece
My fav gta.
I've got a 360 together with gta 4 on the day the game released.
I was blown away and I couldn't stop playing it for months. The game delivered and still got some of the best physics and details when it comes to open world city games.
The game looked (to me, it still does) so incredible. Saints Row1 was the best looking open world gta clone at the time and then gta4 released.

I also love the theme, story and characters. So much better than 5 multiple characters crap. in fact, 5 would be so much better if Franklin was the only playable character.
The game got a lot of bad fame because of pc version that is terrible to this day.
It only looks proper on 360, ps3 and xsx bc. The heavy depth of field and motion blur are essential to the atmosphere of this game and it's the first thing people disable in pc version leaving it aliased with draw distance that should not be visible.
I even couldn't get the colors and contrast of the pc version right. It's just more gritty on 360 and even got MSAA.

And the 360/ps3 versions are the only ones still capable of playin with original music. Such a shame XSX downloads new version :(

I must have put hundreds of hours into GTA IV on the PS3. Niko Bellic is still my favorite GTA protagonist and also my favorite story in the series since it centered around Eastern European/Russian characters, along with getting to know other interesting characters like Brucie, Packie, Little Jacob, Dwayne etc to unlock and use their special favors. I would call Dwayne to send backup my way before driving around and shooting everybody. I loved listening to Vladivostok FM too. I really liked Alderney the most, followed by Algonquin and Happiness Island, but the whole map was fun to explore and mess with NPCs with the then brand new Euphoria physics. It felt a lot like playing GTA III for the first time - a huge improvement over that game, even if a step back from San Andreas in some ways.
