Thanks @Arc

Interested to know how you find it bud! Praying you habe no coil whine 😉
But seriously, I picked it up at a police station (his idea) at 7pm. Got home at 8pm. Set it up, had it download a few games while I slept for work. Woke up, played Demon's Souls for 25 minutes, and left for work.

The UI is quite different, and had some trouble for a minute navigating it. Looks great and feels smooth/fast.

Thing that still gets me every time is the quick bar to access the things you want, party.. power settings.., etc is accessed on the controller with a single press of the PS button and not a press and hold.

Yup, once I went to idk, some where, I said to myself, "where the hell did those icons and options go"? Being the strong independent man, I don't need no instructions. More precisely I was just crunched for time.

Agreed, PS4 UI was solid. Maybe to head off complaints of another XMB rehash.
Very possible. I would like a toggle though. Im sure I will remember one day. Probably by the time PS6 comes out and then they will switch it back.
My theory was they might have something else planned for it down the line. Same with the super small icons (folders).
I could see that.

This is actually a really great idea to avoid the 'murder meet-ups' I was worried about for you, lol.

I hope you get to sit down with it a bit more soon. The one bummer about getting a new console these days, is all the downloads first, lol.

You left me in the trenches taking grenades, you selfish sun-of-btch! 😎

Question for other PS5 owners. How are your game download speeds? Games are taking 8-14 hours to download each. My PS4P was like 2-4 hours. I'm using a wired connection and Google DNS (which helped slightly).

I can't say I tracked anything very scientifically, but I noticed some very good download speeds on PS5 compared to PS4. I'm wired, but use my ISPs DNS.

What are your actual speeds looking like? A massive game taking 8 hours would make sense compared to a smaller game at 3 hours, so it's not the most useful metric.

8-14 hours per game?!?!? No offense but you must have some slooooow internet.

I downloaded Battlefield 5 on PS5 and it was about 8 hours. On the PS4 Pro it was roughly 3hrs. Although, now that I think about it, I did get a new modem in between those two instances. Still, a new modem shouldn't be that drastically different.

PS5 said 7-8mbps D/L on the network check in the network settings.

Yuck, that's a not so bueno. I don't know what your speeds are supposed to be from your ISP, but you can take the mbps (megabits per second) and divide by 8 to get the MBps (megaBYTES per second).

Yours would be 1MB/s, which would mean 1,000 seconds to download 1,000 megabytes (1,000 megabytes is a gigabyte). So that's about 17 minutes per gigabyte. If BF5 is around 50GB, that'd be around 14 hours to download!

Yeah, maybe I'll setup my router again and see if that helps. It's not a deal breaker, just an inconvenience.

Battlefield V is over 100 gigs in size, actually. My PS5 doesn't get my full bandwidth unfortunately... while on my PC I get this...

On PS5 I don't even breach 60 Mbps, so over 14 times slower on my PS5, but still nearly 10x faster than yours, dude lol

For my part I plan to talk to my ISP eventually about the PS5 problem

The speed test in the PS5 network settings is not very accurate also, just FYI. It sucks to trying to track the real speed. It can show me half of what I'm actually getting if I just look at a download and see it tick away 10MB per second (80mbps) on a download.

But you're not going to sit there for an hour tracking every tick it shows and come up with some overall average lol. It should really show you the actual speed while downloading something.
