Looks terrible imo. FF15 on PC looks better. Any why would the only show big monsters and ugly old men? Where's the likable characters that you care about in FF-games?

But for "reasons", people will call this better than XB3. sigh

There's no way you believe that. Terrible? They're keepin it under wraps; game is more than a year's time away

This will be the game that forces me to buy a PS5, idk about you but FFXVI looks like game of the decade to me

This game looks very grey and brown. Needs more color.

Looks like a gritty game of thrones esque take on Final Fantasy. Hope I'm wrong.

Looks like a solo adventure too, which idk how I feel about that.

It does feel like the FF14 team (who I presume are handling this given how much it resembles that game aesthetically) is making "FF14 but with more grit/realism", since a lot of the elements in the game are pretty much identical to what is in FF14. "Ifrit" looks so much like one of the artworks of the "Warrior of Light" from that game.

Combat looks interesting, but I'm often wary of these types of "action" style combat in RPG's lately, they never seem executed well and are all flash and no substance.

Looks absolutely amazing and even if Dragons Dogma 2 never gets revealed Final Fantasy XVI and Elden Ring might take some of the pain away.

I wonder if part of the delay is to allow for the rumored PS5 Pro.

It looks like a PS4-game running on a PC for a smooth 60fps.

And I just hate the character designs in this game so much, especially the main character. Could it be a more generic face?

The focus on effects and monsters just really have this nasty mmorpg-vibe, like I'm watching a trailer for the latest FF14 expansion instead of a singleplayer-FF.

I'm willing to give it a chance, though I have been burned before. I really, really like what I'm seeing with XVI.

Looks really good. I was expecting it to release this Winter so that's later then I expected. Hopefully it doesn't get a delay.
Hopefully. I hate games that relate in the summer. Like, I got shit to do, wait until the frozen tundra returns.

The formal English combined with the lack of charisma from the characters completely kills this for me. It's borrowing too much of what I've grown tired of from other SE/FF games without bringing enough new/creative content to the table.

It's a monotone trailer that doesn't impress me much, the brooding is so overdone it's laughable.

Game looks good though I'm not really hyped for it. Haven't played a Final Fantasy game since 6.

I just wanted to pop in and say I really like Naoki Yoshida's intro and words of focusing on what they do best -- making games. And his hope to bring happiness to people during this trying time by making something they can enjoy.

Can you believe it? A game developer without bullshit offering words of assurance and comfort, unlike some developers who want to lecture at how toxic we are. *cough*Bioware*cough*

Trailers seems to have been focused purposedly on the Eikons. Which is a weird choice, given this is just the 2nd look we have into the game. Would have expected a more "general", maybe more gameplay based showcase.

Everything flashes so fast so i can't really get a gist of most things. Big eikon battles seem to be a thing though, that might be cool.

Wanna see more but i'm in anyways!

Thought it was decent in tone, and I'm huge on voice acting and eloquence. I still would prefer to switch it to Japanese if there will be English Subtitles because I pretty much pick apart anything that isn't voice acted to perfection

The brooding wasn't an issue for me, personally. Very grim trailer focusing solely on the war aspects of this game's story, it's only right that the characters are grave and prepared. The King had an interesting outlook I'll add; positive in a way yet he knew devastation was imminent. It seems that he believes his kingdom will come out on top after the war and with some confidence he delivers those words

When I saw the 2023 date I was a bit pissed to be honest. Another year of waiting is tiresome, but by the looks of things and how development has been laser focused, Final Fantasy XVI is going to be so, so worth it.

It makes me appreciate the fact we got Elden Ring and are getting Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in two months.

I would have preferred this trailer to show more of the world and exploration aspect of the game. There is too much going on in the battle for me to understand it especially with the quick editing. But this looks like solid action combat, hence the very likely one-man party.

This FFXVI does not provide what I personally want FF and JRPGs in general to be like, but the dev team is free to do whatever they want with this entry and I don't think it'll be a fiasco like FFXIII and FFXV (even though I love both).

Still hoping this is a cross-gen title, but from the official screenshots it looks a little too good for the PS4 to run. Then again I could be wrong.

While it does seem to lack a unique identity, it seems like it's coming together nicely. Hopefully this will be the first good entry since FFXII.

Don't you get tired complaining all of the time?

Here's a woman from the game. Her name is Benedikta. Sorry she doesn't look like a generic anime teen girl. She uses a sword and is the Dominant of the Eikon Garuda.

"Clive has a generic face" What are you talking about? What is his face supposed to look like? Tidus? Cloud? Squall? Noctis? Zidane? Lightning? Maybe you would be perfectly fine with it if the art style looked like Xenoblade Chronicles and less like Final Fantasy?

^ The environments are absolutely stunning in these screenshots. The game is definitely more colorful than what the trailer lets on.

Visuals look very promising in general.

Curious about the timed exclusivity. So it's a PS5 timed exclusive, with a PC release later on. But what's the time frame here? Could very well be one year tbh.

To be fair, I've been growing very jaded. This industry and the market have both let me down time and time again. Even my favorite games of the last few years are very mixed bags that pale in comparison to favorites from 10+ years ago, maybe one unlikely exception in the bunch. I see what excites people today and I'm not at all in line with that.

All of these screenshots are lacking color, lol. And why are the faces so stiff?! That was my biggest disappontment while watching the trailer, the lack of facial animations. After playing Cyberpunk 2077, I don't wanna regress in quality. And this is FF, after all, so I expected more. You didn't post the worst face, though, that blonde guy. Ugh.

I think the screenshots are very vivid with color, though its gritty due to a more "realistic" art direction. Reminds me of Game of Thrones, Dragon Age Inquistion and the Witcher 2/3 on steroids.

My biggest concern is the lack of showing for a party, that and a year long delay when it was said they said they would not be revealing more info on Final Fantasy XVI until close to release.

Also interesting that Final Fantasy XVI
has people transforming into Eikons, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has people fusing into ouroboros super mecha. Two major RPGs with transformation mechanics very likely as a core mechanic. Can't recall the last time that was a thing. Turning into a werewolf in Skyrim and I don't think that was a major focus?

I'm 99% sure that the game is basically finished and it''s a strategic delay to release the game on a bigger hardware install base in Japan. The game would have problems selling 300k in Japan right now, which would be catastrophic decline for the franchise, no matter how much the West makes up for these sales.

What I find curious between those 2 games is that XB3 looks like a game that is super fun to play and has a very emotional story with likeable characters. Meanwhile FF13 has ugly, unfriendly looking characters, no engaging story as of yet, and the gameplay looks just boring. I'm pointing this out, because I find it unfair how FF just lives off its historical hype, whereas XB3 is still treated like "niche animu". Meh.

Do you guys think that the year long delay will be about adding and perfecting details. Seems like it's done right? All they have to do now is touch things up and finalize all design and choices?

That, and as others have mentioned allowing PS5 user base to expand.

I think they may want a PS5 Pro to come into play along with expanded PS5 production.

Tbh I like what I see more and more after rewatching the trailer. Is this coming to pc as well or for now a ps5 exclusive? I need this in my life.

people are always complaining about FF. just don't give a fuck about the haters.

I don't see a reason to complain about old men and monsters. They're an integral part of FF. In the trailers for the older games none were shown (if I remember it right) and people complained where are the summons. Now they show bahamut and so on and people are still not satisfied.

FF XVI 🫶
