Final Fantasy XVI Producer Naoki Yoshida revealed that Square Enix plans to distribute a demo for the upcoming game sometime in the future. When asked about future developments of the game, Yoshida stated that more information about it will appear close to the end of 2022. This is where he mentioned the prospect of a trial version appearing. The reason being that the team would like to keep the momentum of the upcoming release going. [Thanks, Dengeki!]

Here is a translation of an excerpt from the Dengeki interview:

If information about the game is released too early, it won't carry that same kind of excitement so we plan on sharing the information about three months before it releases. We also plan to have a Final Fantasy XVI demo available, but we want to do so with that momentum."

This means that a demo is on the horizon, but it will appear closer to when Square Enix will reveal a more concrete release date for Final Fantasy XVI. Right now, the game is slated for a Summer 2023 release, which was shared through a trailer. A more finite release date will be announced sometime in 2022.

Final Fantasy XVI will release in Summer 2023.
In an interview with Dengeki, Final Fantasy XVI Director Hiroshi Takai extrapolated on the differences between the difficulty of the "story" mode and the standard version of the game. He stated that both versions are functionally the same, with the exception of story mode coming with accessories to make the journey just a bit easier for those more interested in the narrative. Specifically mentioning support accessories, Takai stated that there will be an accessory that will automatically perform combos with equipped. There will also be an accessory that will help players dodge attacks, but players can pick and choose what they want to equip. [Thanks, Dengeki!]

You can read the full translation of Final Fantasy XVI Director Hiroshi Takai's explanation the story mode difficulty below:

You might think there is a huge difference between the two modes, but there isn't. What's different in Final Fantasy XVI is that there will be "support accessories." When equipping these accessories, for example, you'll be able to automatically perform really cool combos by repeatedly hitting the attack button. Or you can equip an accessory that will dodge attacks appropriately when used. There are plenty of these kinds of accessories in the game, and you can choose your preference as to which kinds you want to use.

In the story mode version of Final Fantasy XVI, players will start with the aforementioned auto attack ring, and a secondary ring that will slow down time just before an enemy is about to strike Clive. However, enemies will also have lowered health and attack with less frequency in story mode as well.

Final Fantasy XVI will release sometime in Summer 2023, with a more concrete release date to appear later in 2022.

I've completely given up on Final Fantasy as a series after a ton of games I just hated. I'm hoping for the best, but I'm expecting that I'll just have to get my JPRG fix from Trails to Azure and Trails into Reverie next year instead.

With that said, I'll give the demo a try with the best of hopes. Final Fantasy has been such an important series throughout my life. I really want to love it again, but I'm wary of being burned by this series one too many times.

Between this and the Dragon Quest event, should be very interesting especially if Dragon Quest XII releases next year instead of 2024 like I'm expecting and really hoping it will not.

Hopefully we get a full look at Final Fantasy XVI, gear and upgrades for Clive, how parties and AI teammates work, how traveling works, what we can expect from sidequests, exploriation, what kind of villages, towns and cities we can visit and how much of them we can visit.

Also UI, if theres a in-game bestiary, codex.

Would ask about new game+, what kind of dungeons will there be post game dungeons, superbosses, quests, but they already said FFXVI won't have a post game, everything is already in it. So will there be optional dungeons, superbosses, quests, weapons, gear/abilities ect?
