My favourite FF and least favourite protagonist.

The game would be perfect if they gave you multiple dialogue choices and allowed you to shape Squalls personality yourself, especially if that allowed you to choose his romantic partner, because Quistis is superior to Rinoa in every way.

controversial opinion time; the Junctioning system in the game may well make the use of magic mostly detrimental to you, but it's also brilliant, because with a bit of time and patience it is broken as fuck and allows you to use all the coolest attacks in the game with impunity.

Similarly, the combination of the Triple Triad card game, still hands down the best mini game in a Final Fantasy, with the Junction system providing a mechanic to break down materials, especially cards for relevancy, to provide spells, means that you can walk into the endgame and optional super bosses so ridiculously overpowered, that you can wipe the flaw with everything without taking a single point of damage in return.

There's something about an RPG system that seems arse backwards and counter productive on the surface, but that grants you an insane amount of freedom, customisation and power once you put the effort in to understand it, that I just love.

If you want a real ride or die bitch it's gotta be Selphie "let's kill a Moomba and wear its skin to escape prison" Tilmitt.

The enemy level scaling makes the whole thing weird too. Such an easy game to truly break with even a little bit of thought. Good stuff.

Best OST in the franchise too.

I'm so glad we don't have those staggered releases like we used to.

We still have them, they just take the form of a game releasing ONLY in Japan and then later it is confirmed to come to the rest of the world.

Game will always be special as this was the first FF I played on release. I played FF7 after all the hype and my buddy telling me to.

It will always be one of my all time favorite games and I remember turning down hanging out with my friends to stay home and play. To me it's FF7 then 10 tied with 8.

I cannot believe it's been 25 years.
