Famitsu has published its estimated physical game software and hardware sales data for Japan for the week of March 22, 2021 to March 28, 2021.

Monster Hunter Rise for Switch was the highest selling new release of the week, opening at 1,302,132 units sold.

On the hardware side, the Switch family sold a massive 267,497 units thanks to the release of Monster Hunter Rise, the PlayStation 5 family sold 62,295 units, the PlayStation 4 family sold 2,189 units, and the Xbox Series family sold 1,279 units. Next-generation consoles continue to face stock issues.

The Switch is an absolute beast. Tbh it's not surprising because it's unique. It's a machine that doesn't really allow cinematic bullshit so you have to sell your game on pure gameplay, with Nintendo first party leading the way there. They're also remarkably free of woke. I firmly believe that the old-schoolness of the Switch is working pretty heavily in its favour.
