Estimate the next huge Zelda game's release date?

The last one released May 12, 2023 so it's almost been two years now since the release of the last major Zelda game. Which month/day/year do you think the next Zelda game will release on? And I guess since it's early enough, if you have any other predictions about the game that's something we can discuss too. But as far as the time frame and the wait goes, I estimate that it'll land on November 18, 2027

I voted 2027, but I feel like that's much too late.

I'll share with you all what I believe is happening at Nintendo. I believe a couple of things. We've heard that BotW is getting the 4K treatment and has been a featured tech demo behind closed doors. I believe this points to a fork that has happened where TotK built upon BotW with systems and concepts that aren't going to be sticking around. Meanwhile, on the other fork Nintendo has left the BotW world behind for a brand new Hyrule.

So they have remastered BotW as an exercise to help them ramp up for a brand new Zelda. Same engine. New World. 4K with bells and whistles.

Given how much refinement this engine has already gotten, and how masterful (and efficient) Monolithsoft is with world-buildiing, I think they could do this in much less than 4 years.

And releasing new hardware with a 2+ year wait for a new Zelda sounds like a recipe for setback.

I'm thinking fall 2028. Lines up with the release schedules of the last 3 entries.

If we get a 3D Mario this Holiday, I say 2026. I feel pretty confident that the next mainline Zelda will be a departure from BoTW/ToTK...and likely has been in development since well before ToTK released.

Also 2026 will be the 40th anniversary of the franchise. They need to have something to take advantage of that.
