Welcome to this year's edition of the Epic Games Store Year In Review! As with previous years, we've spent time reflecting on the year we've had in 2024 while taking a look ahead at some of the most anticipated store features and releases coming in 2025.

We're excited to announce that we achieved a new milestone of 295M Epic Games Store PC users in 2024, representing an increase of 25M users year over year. The Epic ecosystem expanded significantly as well, with 898M total Epic cross-platform accounts, growing 94M in 2024. This includes accounts created through partner platforms and the Epic Games Store on mobile, which we launched last year on Android worldwide and iOS in the European Union . Daily Active Users (DAU) peaked at 37.2M, and our peak Monthly Active Users (MAU) reached 74M – slightly down from last year's 75M. Our average Daily Active User count was 31.5m, up 6% with average Monthly Active Users at 67.2m, also up 6%.

We continue to see strong momentum in catalog growth thanks to continued adoption of, and improvements to, our Self-Publishing Tools. In 2024, 1,100 games released on the Epic Games Store, taking our total catalog size to over 4000 products. Player spending on third-party applications using Epic Payments reached $255 million, down 18% year over year. This number does not include publishers generating revenue via their own payment solutions. Total spending, including Epic's games, achieved $1.09B in 2024, up 15% from 2023.

I'm not sure how they are spinning that as a win. 😬

The last game I played on EGS was Alan Wake 2 but I don't think there has been any major games since. I only use EGS for their exclusives.

Steam is just so, so much better. After having a few games that had stupid issues like my controller not working, not even when launched through Steam, I completely abandoned the Epic Store. Everything works with Steam.

I warmed up more to Epic when I started using Heroic Launcher. Warmed up as in, I started adding the free games again that I'll never play.

I use GoG more than Epic, and I have a fraction of games on GoG by comparison. It's a service problem.

I log in. Get the free game that I'm never going to play and then log out.

I don't even bother doing that these days. I have EGS, EA Whatever, UPlay GoG and Battlenet installed, but the most I do is run them monthly just to keep them up to date...play games on them.....not so much.

On paper when Epic Announced EGS I thought 'Proper competition for Valve this should be good' anticipating the EGS would somehow become a true competitor whilst everyone else had largely floundered around. However instead of attempting to make a platform that was feature comparable to Steam. Tim Seeney just threw cash at timed exclusives and subsiding free games.

It's like he was running a crappy cinema chain with terrible seats, sound system and popcorn and thinking if he manages to monopolise a few exclusives, that somehow that will build customer loyalty, coupled with this bizarre idea that I as the consumer should care how much the developer makes.

It's like how can you be that blind as to why Steam is successful Tim?

I hate that I have games in it that I want to play occasionally. I hate even more that my brother-in-law has games stuck in it that I want to play that I wish were in his Steam library instead...

I don't have an issue with the launcher itself as it launches and runs games just fine for me but it's missing a lot of good features from Steam that I like using like a web browser in their OS. A bare bones platform compared to Steam. Moneyhating exclusives will only get you so far if the rest of the platform is mid.

There is alot of trash Epic gives out for free, but there's also been some bangers lately.

Human Kind is a game I really looked alot forward to. Especially now that Civ 7 was a turd.

I launched EGS when Alan Wake 2 released then again when the DLC dropped. EGS is barebones and shite
