5 years going now with nothing but a teaser trailer for the logo and name. His wording is really not encouraging for a XII release this year. Was hoping releasing III HD-2D would see more actual info on XII, maybe they will after I and II HD-2D release.

Covid19 and 2020 being a lost year at minimum, along with two of the trio who guided Dragon Quest passing away did not help.

Square Enix have been getting very slow with mainline releases in Kingdom Hearts and Dragon Quest lately.

Final Fantasy seems to get a new release every couple of years though, so perhaps some teams are just getting more resources than others.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, a mainline Dragon Quest title and often listed as one of the best games and RPGs ever made just had its remake released 4 months ago in November. Abit its an earlier NES title before the Dragon Quest series started massivly expanding in scope with IV being on SNES, and eventually leading up to the 100 hour scale juggernauts that are Dragon Quest VII, VIII, IX and XI.

With I and II HD-2D Remakes slated for this year and III HD-2D Remake actually exceeding Square-Enix projections I would not be suprised to see a reveal for IV-V-VI HD-2D Remakes, and possible remasters of VII, VIII and IX.
