I really don't understand why they went with this DQIX style of art work. I always thought taking DQX, polishing the visuals a bit, and reworking it to be playable offline with bots could be a great experience, but it's just bizarre to me that they took this approach.

I agree with you, however this seems to be the reason why.

Weird... the Japanese in the first slide says their DD Rotoscope Rendering technique was developed to take fully 3D data and render it to appear as if it were super-deformed pixel art.

They totally failed if that was the goal. It instead just looks like an up-ressed 3DS game.

Where is the Western release, or are we never getting it like we never got Dragon's Dogma Online?

Would think at this point Dragon Quest has enough recognition to have a global release.

I partially feel the whole reason for this version to even exist was for us in general. Square Enix takes their time with localizations on DQ stuff but they eventually do arrive. Sometimes a decade and a half late... (DQ5 on the DS)

They're probably just spacing DQ stuff out now. Treasures is coming this winter, the DQ3 remake hopefully next year and I feel that X could hit NA by winter of 2023 or early 2024.

This isn't even taking DQ12 into account either.

Just gotta be patient..it'll come. We've all waited this long already. A little more won't kill us. 😉

The chibi art style did immediately make me think of a Dragon Quest IX remake. Dragon Quest X Offline could be them fine-tuning that specific rendering technique.

Normally I dislike the chibi art style (World of Final Fantasy looked awful, for example) but when it is coupled with Akira Toriyama's unique art style and the charming monster designs of Dragon Quest, it looks pretty good.
