Hello and welcome to the 2nd Round of the DPAD Top Movies Face/Off series! 🤩

For the second round, every weekday there will be a 1v1 between two films, instead of a six film free for all.

I think for Round 2 I will show the trailers as well as the posters, just because some of the movies weren't shown in Round 1. There won't be any need for the trailers next round though.

Between these two movies, while I have only seen Jaws out of the two, I voted for the Hunt for Red October after doing a little research on it. I think I prefer the more intense stakes in the Hunt for Red October, which had the same director as Die Hard apparently. While Jaws does have a stronger base in popular culture, I find that the Jaws storyline is a little too basic for my liking.

Other than Connery looking cool Red October is not that good. Jaws is one of the greatest monster movies + focus on small town politics makes it fresh every time. Always a fun rewatch.

Also, they speak horrendous Russian in Red October.

Fuck Jaws.

It actually did a disservice to sharks. They're not as vicious as they are shown in this movie. Most of them are pretty chill.

Hunt for Red October is one of my favorite books and in my top 10 all time movies.

Jaws is great and invented Hollywood Summer Blockbusters but I 100% prefer HfRO.

Fuck off.

The majority of sharks are nice fish and this fucking movie made millions of them get killed throughout the years. Even Spielberg says he regrets making it. Next you'll say Sharks are the Israelis of the sea or some shit. lol

Again: If you find yourself in open water, sharks WILL kill you. It's not a matter of chance and luck or even behavior. They'll see you floating up in the water, bite you, kill you. Fuck sharks. Also fuck tigers and lions and bears. Kill all predators pls.
