Hello and welcome to the 2nd Round of the DPAD Top Movies Face/Off series! 🙂

The two movies fighting for your vote today are:

28 Days Later (2002)

Ghostbusters (1984)

I love both, but Ghostbusters will always have a special place in my heart. The incredible chemistry of the cast, the fantastic writing, all much harder to achieve than you might think, as the shitty reboot showed, and even the more recent one didn't get close to the charm of the classic 80s movies. Add to that they spawned the Real Ghostbusters cartoon and comic that I loved as a kid. Yeah Ghostbusters all the way.

I could never understand the appeal of Ghostbusters. Neither funny nor scary. The 80s equivalent of quippy Marvel movies. Cool song though.

Not a fan of 28 Day later and it's shitty mobile phone cinematography either. But it has a couple decent moments, I'll go for it.

I watched Ghostbusters recently at a family event on Netflix, where it was remastered in HD. I already liked the cast and the flow of the movie, but the remaster really showed how they made extra effort to make the film look nice with the buildings and sets. Ghostbusters 2 also looked great in the remaster. So in this matchup it's Ghostbusters for me.

Ghosts vs (fast) Zombies

Ghostbusters for sure. Its simply an enjoyable romp with a strong cast and highly quotable lines. Almost everything that comes out of Murray's mouth is gold. I have watched it probably 30 times in my life and will probably watch it a few dozen more before I die.

28 Days later is a great film and was very influential in the genre. I loved it when I saw it in theaters. The tone is so bleak, gritty and cold. So fitting for the end of the world. And pretty much the exact opposite of the tone in GB.
