King of Comedy (1982)

Rear Window is amazing, and a masterclass by Alfred Hitchcock on how to build tension and creeping dread. The fact that for the whole movie we don't leave Jimmy Stewart's room and watch the whole thing unfold from his point of view is a feat in itself.

The Little Mermaid is only other film here I've seen. Okay film, but kind of disappointed that it didn't follow the tragic ending of the original fairy tale. Ariel was hot as fuck though.

This is a good selection. Whiplash and King of Comedy are very good. But the vote goes to Hitchcock's voyeuristic masterpiece Rear Window. Absolutely brilliant thriller, Hitch's best movie in my opinion.

I'm like you. I haven't seen the other films and I thought Rear Window was a pretty cool movie. That moment when the bad guy looks straight at him was so intense, more than you would think.

It shows you how brilliant Hitchcock was in his craft. He didn't need a jumpscare or gory effects to scare the crap out of you.

Sadly I haven't seen either Whiplash or Rear Window but they both seem very good. But I nominated Prisoners and it's an excellent movie so there's my vote.

Most rewatched though would be The Little Mermaid with easily dozens of views. I was like seven at the time but it definitely has a place in my heart.

Whiplash gets this.

Prisoners is close to winning this, but the open end makes me frustrating just thinking about it
(he WAS found and freed, righ? RIGHT? :/)

Prisoners was beautifully shot but I remember thinking it was dumb as hell. Don't remember why exactly. Villeneuve's greatness began at Sicario.

I have a hot take where DePalma's Body Double did Rear Window better than Hitchcock did.

It's actually my favorite DePalma movie. SUPER underrated

I also prefer Disturbia with Shia LeBouf

even worse, I prefer Open Windows with Sasha Grey and Elijah Wood

Maybe I'm just tasteless but the movies which Rear Window inspired all entertained me more than the original did... which I actually got a chance to see on the big screen in a nearby vintage theater

Drama's do get into very tricky situations where things just keep going wrong all the time. Its just frustrating for me, so I usually avoid Drama movies.
