Thread: DPAD Top 40 Movies Face/Off #15: Spirited Away vs Predator
When you use rifles like that you deserve to be ripped apart by predator.
Spirited away is just more silly anime, but for weebs with delusions of grandeur.
Predator is one of the most superbly crafted action, sci fi and horror movies ever made, a cultural milestone in the shift from the mid to early 80's to the more down to earth everyman action stars that came after, that respects where it came from and lays the perfect path for those to come to follow, with an incredibly tight script that starts out full of bravado and excess, before slowly stripping away ever unnecessary element until all rhat is left is the core of a timeless man vs nature archetype, all performed by a superb and unexpectedly nuanced cast, subtly flexing acting muscles bigger than their enormous biceps.
It is a masterpiece of a movie, and should by all rights walk this, were this site not so full of dorks.

Together we can rid this place of the scourge known as anime.
The anime hate is strong in this thread. 
I think in terms of Ghibli movies, Spirited Away is not really my favourite. The story is a bit too work related for my tastes. I prefer the more fantastical and mysterious themes in the other Ghibli films.
Predator on the other hand is a good action movie that has an interesting mix of horror and action that works out well. It was written well and had a good ending.
For this vote I'll be voting for Predator. I do think that anime movies can provide good entertainment, but Spirited Away just reminds me too much of an irritating ex-employer who was annoying like the Yubaba lady.
