Thread: DokeV debut gameplay trailer
on a technical level it's impressive but I'm clearly not the target audience.

I do wonder, why are all western games chock full of diversity yet titles like this is exempt from any criticism?

In what way? I thought I saw plenty of people with different skin colors, both male and female, within the first minute or so of the video.

Yeah I missed it in the first 30 sec. The rest of the video is devoid.

I guess I was just annoyed with a lot of the other titles I saw earlier in the show with the generic diversity cast

On the flip side, the dev is South Korean and Asian devs generally seem oblivious/immune to western outrage over diversity.

And I'm not some sort of scum where I think every game needs to offer straight white males as main characters but fuck me it feels like so many new games are "paint by numbers" using the diversity bullet points as a character design guide.

I just find the Asian devs use of sugary music so grating

The music certainly was something else. I think it was the human character designs and their decision to mix semi-realism with an anime chibi look that I really found off-putting. Gave me a bit of a weird uncanny valley feeling.

I knew that I read it somewhere. The game is no longer an MMO

Ok, Dokev and CrimsonDesert have just joined Final Fantasy XVI, Dragon Quest XII, Horizon Forbidden West, Breath of the Wild 2, Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, Vanilawares next project/remaster and a potential Xenoblade 3 as my most anticipated games.

Thanks for the heads up!

An extended version of the K-pop inspired music video that debuted at The Game Awards 2021, featuring the song "ROCKSTAR" by GALACTIKA with dance routines directed by Lia Kim.

Wow totally missed that. What a fucking awesome reveal, 3 min of pure fun gameplay, no cinematic teaser, love it. Looks great on a technical level. The game itself, yeah would be for me maybe 25 years ago. But still, looks fun as hell for their target audience.
