As we all know gaming is the most fun one can possible have in the dark 😉. But OMG the light on the Series X controller in horrible. I'm blasted in the face with a pure white light 🤣. I don't know if it's because I wear glasses so lense glare is worse, rocking an oled with no ambient lighting or what but I'm really trying my best to resist putting a sticker on my controller.

Looking online I'm not the only one but the "problem" dosnt appear to be massive either. It's the one thing that puts me off about the controller. Weirdly I've heard far more complaints about the PS4 controller over the years but that never bothered me. Maybe because its facing at the back of the controller or the colour is a more ambient colour.

Anyways who else isn't impressed with the logo advertising at night? 🤣 I don't really want to change my controller (I'm on PC) because it has brilliant support but I'm seriously looking at alternatives.

Lmao. It doesn’t bother me, but I see how it could. I would just put some kind of cool Xbox sticker or decal over it.

Something they should consider adding to settings, though. You can turn the PS4 controller light down at least, and probably the same for the PS5.

Is it that bright now? Damn. I use the CP2077 Xbox One controller

Now I am curious to see what did they do with the new controller

Unless its the same but its the first time you're experiencing it

I'm definitley exaggerating the intensity but it is super annoying for me. I just don't want a bright white LED constantly in my peripheral vision when gaming at night. During the day it's absolutely fine I never notice it. I think it is only an issue of you play in a pitch black room in the evening but that's what I prefer, more cinematic etc. 😊

Oh I definitely feel you. I play on dimmed lights at best

I feel like it’s brighter than it used to be on the Series consoles?

I just took this picture to see because I don't remember it so bright

Is it brighter than this? Because this looks fine. Still can annoy people playing in pitch black

Idk. Hard to tell in a lit photo. I could be completely off base, but I feel like the new controller’s Xbox button is brighter/just a tiny bit blue biased. Maybe a scientific test needs to be done by someone here.

Yes. I absolutely hate bright lights on controllers. The Xbox one controller is awful. Laying on a couch playing and it’s visible the whole time.

I don’t see my rgb keyboards when I’m at my pc and I’m focused. But controllers I see them most of the time.

I have a rgb keyboard (lowest setting for night) and its never a problem 😊. I think its A) the fact its white B) So focused in one spot C) on a controller your more inclined to hold vertically.

Makes me a bit suspicious that dimming it is reserved for the elite controller. I'm led to believe back in the day if you had a Kinnect the light would auto dim as well so it's maybe not a physical limitation.

Like @Damage inc I also play on a sofa and somewhat reclined its always closer to your face in a natural position.

@Mista hard to tell with a photo next to other lighting. In my room in a pitch black room (other than an oled) the white "bleeds" out the circle at night, if that makes sense.

With the way controllers are meant to be held, Its inevitable that the light in the middle of the controller will be always directed at your face

Honestly they should just make an option to control the lighting just like PS4s light bar

No issues with light on my One pad or Series S pad. The D-pad is screwed on my One pad though. Right always double taps for some reason. Annoying AF in menus. Needs replacing according to Google. R trigger on the Series pad is sticking during Rocket League, but not Forza for some reason. Manageable for now but will likely turn into a problem later.

As well built as they are compared to the absolute shit-show that is the Joy-Con controller, it’s still disappointing. Both my Switch pro controllers have drifting sticks too, but that’s instantly fixable with a quick blow takeiohmy.jpg. Seems like dust easily gets into them. Shoddy. I never had any issues with controllers until this gen.

I think the series S controllers have the colour reversed so only the x is white and background black. I haven't seen one in real life but I'd imagine if it is like that it's alot better.

Yeah. There is 0 reason why they shouldn’t allow that. I’ve been tempted to order a film to put over it.

That’s right. It’s not bright at all. Can’t say I’ve ever noticed it or had it distract me. Definitely isn’t reflected in the screen.

As someone with a very dark room and an oled, it's the first thing I turn down on every profile on my elite controller. It's far too bright. Not as bad as the dualshock 4 was/is but it's bad.

I wonder if its specifically worse for OLED users because we don't have tvs with back-lights, creating so much ambient light?

In any case I'm going to order;

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01BZBB...abc_E5MAX9V6CPDN5BP7H2ZP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

or get a new controller today.

The elite luckily lets your dim it quite a bit. I once had to play with the controller that came with the box as my elite was dead and I feel like Batmans spotlight was on me.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I love the controller over all though. I'm going to make a custom dimming sticker tonight (so I can still see its on).

For as much shit as Nintendo gets sometimes (legends say that some of it is actually warranted) they sure did know not to put a big ol' dumbass spotlight on any of their controllers lol

The PS4 controller light bugged me the most because the light being on top of it means it reflects off the TV or entertainment center or whatever's directly in front of you while you're sitting down playing.

Yup, bothers me, too. Haven't done anything about it yet, but I may just slap a piece of tape over it or dab a little black nail polish for something more permanent.

Yeah ideally just dim it. From what I've read people have regretted turning it off completely as it does have its functions for connecting etc 🙂.

While not a problem for me personally I would recommend against permanent solutions, as it's used for syncing and such. I would recommend some kind of opaque tape that can be removed if needed.

That's what I'm rocking two black duelsenses.

If Microsoft does a revision this gen with haptics I'll seriously consider it been a PC Gamer (so all button prompts will be correct). But that white light has to go because I always play at night with the TV the only lightsource.
