So in about another couple years or so, it's expected Avowed will be released.

Much like Elder Scrolls, Avowed will supposedly be a first-person open world RPG.

While Avowed is a new IP, it is set in the Pillars of Eternity world of Eora. So people familiar with PoE there will be some already established background lore.

Avowed is being touted as open world but slightly more condensed than TES.

Now considering it may be many years before we see TES VI, do you believe Avowed poses serious competition? Do you think that Obsidian can pull it off and become the next TES?

I really hope so. Bethesda is... unreliable lately. It feels like they could crank out another masterpiece, or they could crank out a Fallout 4.

So it feels like we really need someone else in this medieval living world space that can do it justice. And if they both do, the more the merrier.

I'm really excited to see Microsoft first party with projects designed for the next gen, and backed by those gigantic pockets and a mandate to create whatever is awesome, free of worries. We could be in for something special.

Not really. Yes the aesthetics and all looks good but I don't have faith in todays Obsidian unfortunately

I would also love if they proved me wrong and just released a banger

Avowed will be what you get when you take Skyrim and turn it into a current gen-game.

TES6 will be what you get when you leap forward and something entirely new, because you now can.

Those are my expectatioms.

When it comes to bug fixing and QA overall, Bethesda should be fine with the kind of backing they have from MS now.

No. I don't think Obsidian is capable of making something on the same scale.

After the somewhat mediocre nature of Outer Worlds, I'm not sure the Obsidian of today are necessarily up to the task if I'm honest.

This basically. Obsidian aren't capable of making anything interesting, they're not the Obsidian of old who took bold risks with story and setting.

Hear me out. Both developers make a single, massive game about two lands, right next to each other. One land is completely designed by Obsidian, from the quests, to the terrain, to the abilities you learn along the way. Same for the other and Bethesda.

There's of course a unified gameplay system, and the player travels between both as they please, over maybe thousands of hours of content. Both stories eventually come together for a single, epic finale.

I know this is not how it works. At all. But let me have my silly fantasy, lol.
