Just curious mostly.

I got it off the eShop a few months back and have put in a few hours here and there. I actually think it's a pretty fun game. Combat is limited, screen tearing is present, looks like a PS3 game, plays like a solid PS2 game, gunplay feels fine when you tweak the settings a bit.

The story is delivered in a fun way, it's like the movie Commando crossed with a Saturday Morning Cartoon.

For $60 I would certainly be underwhelmed but I think it's totally worth $30, there are far worse games for the same price.

Ultimately, I think this game is a case of reviewers seeing something that can be easily mocked and dog piled, gamers jumping in cause it's easy to shit on something when you don't engage it on it's level, and a publisher who clearly sent it out to die. Why can't corny action games be simply that? What's wrong with reveling in a big ham fisted schlock fest?

Here's a clip from the beginning of the 2nd level. I think it captures the camp vibe well, especially when Ivan says, "I'm off the leash..." and then jumps out of the airplane.

What say you D-Padr's? Do we have a Devil's Turd on our hands, or Devil's Third a fun romp into an era largely relegated to the past?

WHen this game came out I was torn on if it was worth my time/money. On the one hand it looked super try hard on the styling, but then the gameplay looked pretty fun. I am curious too, to hear from those who did take the plunge.

I bought it, but it’s still sealed. I got a good deal and it looked like something that would reasonably appreciate in value since it was so limited and notorious.

Gamevaluenow.com put the current price for a sealed devil’s third averaging at $211. I think that’s an investment that’s done well over the past 5 years.

The design of the main character could easily be a contender for worst character design in a video game.

He looks like something that was hastily made in a wrestling game's create-a-wrestler mode.
I mean, you get rid of the tattoos and the scar, and you've just got yourself a shirtless Agent 47. In so far as Japanese-developed games go, I feel we've seen worse. Especially in the jrpg genre. Lol

Isn't that kinda the point. Agent 47s design was largely intended to be generic. He is supposed to blend into a crowd.

Just saying the Devil's Third protag only really has two eye-catching design choices which if taken away leave you with a vanilla dude, a la Agent 47. Not like some of the trainwrecks we've seen in other series (like most of the cast in FFX, for example).

I loved the game! The best part is that it combines third-person melee with first-person shooting, and does so seamlessly. Is it the only game that does this?

It's fun and it's fast-paced. Obviously,, the graphics and performance are subpar, but the game as a whole is fun. It's obvious it got those terrible reviews because it became one of those "let's-all-make-fun-of-it-at-the-same-time" games, with reviewers falling in with the herd, "meme" mentality. Download it on the Wii U before the e-shop is closed and the game becomes impossible to find.

Never heard of it but I watched a bit of it and tbh, that looked some grade A cheesy fun. I agree that the Protag looks like utter dogshit (maybe smelled like it as well given that Sergeants furious nostril look going on) but the general movement etc made it look good. I had sudden flashbacks to Deep Shadows Classic Boiling Point game in terms of the setting somewhat. Not for me these days, but I say enjoy. Revel in your moment.

It was a flawed game, but it had it's moments. Wish they could have completed it and had it be the original version and well polished.

Game had a crazy development history, switched publishers because I think the original publisher went under or was sold or something and was in development hell for ages. I would have liked to see how it would have turned out if they were not fucked around so much.

Disappointing. That’s all I can really say! Itagaki is a legend to me and this game under his name is a shame unfortunately

I heard it was absolute dogshit, but that actually made me morbidly curious. I did try looking for a copy but seems like they're very rare.

I can enjoy so bad it's good type games if they have a certain charm. I found Rogue Warrior absolutely hilarious.
