Thread: Death Stranding 2 On The Beach - State of Play Announce Trailer
Looks good to me. Loved DS and the new terrain shown looks like it will be super fun to traverse.

Yeah, the environments shown looked stellar. I have issues with the godawful UI of DS, but I genuinely loved the environments and the traversal mechanics tbh.

Honestly looked pretty great, but Death Stranding 1 was something I missed with the start of PlayStation games getting PC ports, as it was in the perfect storm of uncertainty and disappointment that kept me from buying long enough to lose interest, so I'm not sure I feel like jumping into a sequel I know I won't have a huge amount of time for and won't understand half of.

Still, the electric guitar gun axe really has me tempted.

I just hope I have more freedom to build stuff. All the mechanics related to traveling, combat, etc were on point in the first game, but the limit on construction (roads in particular) was held back. Hopefully more fighting this time around, too.

Just spent an hour watching reaction videos to the trailer. I love watching people be confused af, especially people who either don't know what DS1 was or who Kojima is.

Wished we would have gotten a full version of Higgs' BB's Theme song. Oh well.

Also good luck Funko getting me to buy a Pop figure of Akin the Puppet.

I'll buy it

Still not played the first yet, what's peoples honest opinions on it? If I remember right when it came out it was mixed good/bad with gamers who played it?
Think of a stripped down MGS5. More focused on exploration and traversal. With a big evolved version of Dark Souls "helpful messages", except not just messages, but communal shared structures and roads.

It's essentially one big fetch quest with horror and word building (literally). It's biggest draw is Kojimas story telling, and cutscenes. Something I initially bounced off after a few hours and eventually came back to really try and ended up loving it. It has It's flaws to be sure. Hopefully some that Kojima addresses in #2.

Alternative take...

Yep, he is correct. Take MGS5, strip down all the fun and gameplay and toys and everything else that makes a game a game, and you get DS. Definitely leave the pretentiousness and amplify the ridiculousness. Sprinkle on a ton of cheese, and you are there! :sneaky:

The traversal stuff is surprisingly great. I'd love to see more games introducing that. The game's story itself is kind of bonkers. My main gripe would be the time management nightmare of the UI which will have you pressing 'skip' repeatedly as there are animations for everything. They're cool the first time, not so much the 10th.
