It's a great game, open worlds in general are too much of a slog for me to beat these days. I do intend to go back to it, will likely keep it on my PS5 though instead of PC. My PC is a AOE/DOTA machine these days.
 
the thing with this game is you actually want to invest time into it and stuff, the further in the story you get the better weapons/tools you have access to making the larger hordes more manageable, it takes actual time to get to the best content unlike other games that just get more repetitive as they go

Yeah, it's definitely more deliberate than many other open world games (although not nearly at the level of Red Dead 2), but I found the sense of progression to be very satisfying.
