Oh damn my dumb ass made a thread but @JORMBO already posted it in the OT.

Sigh. But it's such a big update, might as well highlight it with an own thread.

So I was considering buying in. People who want physical copies should go Series X/S as that version is the only one that comes with PL on the disc. The PC and PS5 versions require a download. Now I just need to see if the Series X version is as good as PS5.

My current plan is to tackle it during Christmas when the in-laws are at my house. I will run off to my office and play. I bought it on PS5 forever ago, so its been a long time coming.

Get the Ultimate Edition with the DLC, comes out Tuesday.

I'm kind of happy Phantom Liberty is a code on PS5, that way I can resell it or gift it, since I already have it. I want the PS5 disc version so I don't have to have 2 icons show up when I insert the PS4 disc and it starting to install the PS4 version if I happen to click on the wrong one. Gonna give the PS4 disc to a friend who just got a PS5.

Ok I preordered the PS5 version mainly because of load times being significantly faster. I wanted all the content on disc, but I hate load times. Still not sure how I feel about giving CDPR money after what they did, but I'm trying to let it go.

So I've never played CP2077. Does it go all in on the LGBT stuff or is it optional / kept in the background like say Mass Effect?

It wouldn't matter if it did. You don't have to worry about that because if you're paying attention to the dialog, you'll be asleep from boredom and won't notice any LGBBQ content if it's there.

The only thing I've come across is a missile side character named Claire that's apparently trans. It's a huge game though, maybe I've missed other stuff?

I've heard there are several LGBT characters in the game, including pans, trans, gay, lesbian. Not sure if their sexual identities are explicitly placed at the forefront or whether it's all implied, though.

I'm pretty sensitive regarding that stuff and I remember:

- One hot lesbian side character that yoo can only date when you chose female V
- One side quest gay cop, but he's a good and well written character, I enjoyed his quest line a lot
- That one trans character for a side quest with car races

So it's definitely in there, but handled well and the characters are actually well written and it's not the focus of their quest lines.

As @Phunkydiabetic mentionned There's Claire who you do a questline with that involves racing cars. She mentions it in passing, and doesn't dwell on it. The only other LGBT characters I can think of are V's love interests if you choose to go that route. As a whole, I would say CP2077 is the least woke AAA game I've played recently. It has diversity but it doesn't try to lecture you about anything or blatantly try to promote certain things. There's plenty of attractive female NPCs in short skirts and other skimpy outfits. They're not all wearing pants and looking like lesbians like in Spider-man 2. The focus is always on the story. Even the side quests have interesting stories that make you want to play them; they're not just there to promote the woke agenda.

Looks like it is finally shaping up to be a truly great game. All the gameplay I saw up to this point looked really mediocre and shoddy.

This is nonsense, the gameplay has been very solid for a long time. It's actually the best first person combat I've ever come across in a game. This is what makes CP2077so good, not only is the story great, not only are the performances great (Keanu), but the actual gameplay (combat, stealth, hacking) is fantastic as well.

They fucked up big time releasing the game before it was ready and by being greedy as to release it on last gen hardware (for the huge install base) when that hardware couldn't handle it. I can only hope that they learned their lesson because it definitely damaged their brand. If they had waited and only released it on current gen then CP2077 would be regarded as a masterpiece above all the rest. You will not regret your purchase, I guarantee it.

I recommend playing as female V because her voice actress did an amazing job. She just sounds way better than the male V to me. Plus I feel like the interactions with Johnny work well. I'm not sure Johnny would have the same dynamic with male V or if he does, then it's probably a bit weird at times. Like he calls female V "kiddo", not sure if he does the male V. He seems to develop a bond with female V as the story progresses, to the point that he's almost rooting for her even though it means his demise. Again not sure if that dynamic is there with male V or if it would hit the same.

Watch Edgerunners on Netflix before you play if you haven't. It's only 8 20-minute episodes, but it is very good (100% critic score, 95% audience score on Rotten) and gives a good perspective about what Night City is all about. And as I've mentioned before. As cool as Phantom Liberty is, I really recommend playing it towards the end of your playthrough, just because some of the endings can end your playthough and count as being an ending for the game.

I just wanna conclude by saying how awesome Phantom Liberty is. Even though Dogtown is a small district compared to the many others in the game, it feels really big. I think it's due to the fact that so many of the buildings have interiors that you can visit and there's so many nook and crannies hidden thoughout the district. I hope in Cyberpunk 2 that all the districts will feel as good as Dogtown. People always want bigger maps in open world games but personally I want more detailed and interactive maps.

Enjoy the ride my friend

I don't get GIF animations like these.

Might as well just have put up a picture, because that extra 4 frames doesnt do anything to tell something a still image couldnt

Yeah it's pointless. No good loop, stops mid animation. Just bad.

I've got a almost 100% game, but it's been a while and I remember patches stripping my character of all its skill points (have to reassign etc). I wonder if its worth starting a new game or going straight into the expansion.

My points being stripped and not remembering my build has basically stopped me from going back to the game. But it's still one of my favorite games of all time.

Yeah I was pissed at first cause everything got stripped, but they let you reassign your attribute points as well as the skill points so you can really completely remake your character how you want. I saved before assigning anything and then went about testing various builds until i found something I was happy with. It took several hours but it was worth it and then I was able to dive right in to Phantom Liberty. Phantom Liberty raises the level cap from 50 to 60 so you can still grow further after reassigning everything.

Just make sure you save before reassigning the attributes because it only lets you do that once. Skill points can be spent and refunded any time and as many times as you want though.

New Nvidia driver out, improving Ray Reconstruction and Ray Tracing in general. I'll definitely check that out. Injecting the new DLSS version from Alan Wake 2 already improved DLSS in Cyberpunk. (I have serious issies with Ray Reconstruction in the game, smearing and weird outlines, hope it's improved a lot now)

Glad to see the developers supporting and improving this game. That alone has piqued my interest in it. Any dev from the Indie Scene to triple A studios who do this kind of stuff are worth supporting, just for their hard work and love of making the experience better than release.

Just had a chance to mess around for about 30 minutes and I can say that this update is the real deal for those of us using path tracing. The introduction of ray reconstruction in the 2.0 update was a major improvement, but it still had that gross oversharpening that made a lot of things look like an oil painting and there was still a good amount of ghosting. This is a whole new level, though. The oversharpening seems to have been completely fixed and it no longer feels like you're compromising on the art style when using path tracing. Still some ghosting here and there, but it also seems massively improved, especially when it comes to moving NPCs.

Really, really impressed with what I've seen so far.

Was about to post this. Tried it and it was way better than before. Not perfect by any means, still some slight outlines visible and noticable ghosting is still a thing when driving around.

Overall though, yuge improvement. It's always insane to see how fast Nvidia iterates and what big steps forward they make with their AI driven stuff. While AMDs FSR2 has the exact same issues since its release and Intels XeSS being the better choice in pretty much all recent cases.

I've owned the game since launch, but am only now truly getting into it.

I just discovered the GLaDOS Delamain.

Fucking awesome, that
