Thread: Current gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 delayed to Q1 2022. The Witcher 3 delayed to Q2 2022
Cyberpunk needs new DLC after the base game has been fixed, a lot of the issues with the base game are beyond bugfixes, there are serious game design problems that I can't see them easily fixing.

DLC I would actually welcome would be something like:

1. New character with San Andreas type rags to riches story, multiple meaningful starting choices, really actual genuine choice and consequences throughout the story, new skill tree, and no 'you're-going-to-die' narrative urgency.

2. Play the missing bit in V's story between the prologue and the start of the game - all the time with Jackie, establishing yourself as a merc.

Can you be specific as to what problems? I'm curious.

Balance problems, skill tree being shit, this mod does a good job of analysis of the issues and attempts at fixing: https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/3010

Story wise, gigs all being isolated events that don't add up to a coherent whole or go anywhere character development or plot wise, so it just all feels bitty and incoherent, especially given context that you're dying so why would you bother.

Jesus Christ... I've honestly reached the point where I'd be more than okay if developers simply stopped announcing release dates until the game in question is within two weeks of a guaranteed launch. Announce the game, hype it up, but don't tell us it's launching on X day/month/quarter/year until it's actually going to hit the date, because this has gone well beyond meme levels of ridiculousness.

Just read up on that link. Holy shit. Didn't realize there were so many problems with the base gameplay. Hopefully this next gen version fixes them.

Not surprised about Cyberpunk anymore. I'll legit be surprised when the update is actually released.

I am surprised about the Witcher since the PS5 and X Series versions were just rated by the ESRB.

Why? The draw of the game should be obvious honestly, personally I have 300 hours in it and I only don't have more because I'm waiting for it to be finished and get a next-gen update
Why didn't you wait for the definitive version to arrive then? Will the progress be transferred? If not, that's a huge waste.

The draw of the game is not obvious. I am not sure why you are assuming that. I have played the game and don't see any draw at all which is why I asked the question to begin with. Judging by the quality of the game, especially on consoles, it easy to see that many are not pleased with the quality even after they have patched it several times.

How will a next gen version fix this? What is the obvious draw?

Saying how many hours you have doesn't really answer my question.

I know it's been said a million times over but CP2077 really is an absolute mess. I downloaded the 1.31 patch the other week and it's still just a really mediocre game.

Besides all the bugs, I think parts of the story were rushed too. I'm at the point when you learn what Keanu's role is and the way it delivered it was really off, just didn't make any sense. Not only that, and I chalk it up to my base PS4, but holy shit, that section of the game, just load time city. I'd watch some incoherent cutscene for 30 seconds, then it'd load for 30 seconds, another cutscene, then loading. Went on like that for probably 20-30 minutes, lol. I was just like, "wtf is going on right now??"

Feel bad for CDPR and the mess their leadership got them in, unless the nex-gen versions really go all out, if all they get is the PS4 version that runs at 60fps, it's still gonna be an underwhelming game.

Power to those who have a god-tier PC, base pS4 owners should just view it as a novelty and go in expecting the worst.

I assumed the draw of the game was obvious because of the enormous hype and sales. I'm not sure what you mean when you say quality if you mean the bugs then it should be obvious why a sort of definitive version would fix that.

To be clear my hours played or on the PC version and I very much enjoyed the game but my PC is a little older and can't get the most out of it, it can currently get more than the consoles can which is part of why I've enjoyed it so much but the PS5 easily outstrips my PC so a genuine next-gen version would be something I definitely would be interested in.

All of that said you were asking if anyone cared and clearly people do the second it went back up for sale on PSN in June it became the top selling game digitally.

Sad to hear. I was hoping they would be able to get it out for the one year anniversary, but if they need more time, they need more time. They absolutely have to get this next release right to start regaining trust and confidence.

Enormous hype and sales that cratered in many ways. I am not denying its a sales success in anyway but sales do no automatically equate to obvious draw. You can advertise something and get people to pay attention and pay money for it, (see star wars) but again that doesn't mean its obvious that people want it or wanted it. But I digress and wasn't my point.

Quality was indeed my main question as we have next to zero information of what exactly this version of the game will have/be. Considering CDPR released the game in the state that they did, I don't see any reason why the current gen version will somehow fix all of the issues the game has and why people would be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Perhaps my question was too broad. Maybe I should have asked, why should anyone care about this supposed next gen version as they can't even get the previous version finished and in a state that resembles anything they promised?

If the save doesn't carry you'll have to start all over again.

If I'm being honest I didn't think the PC version was in that sorry a state even at launch and as far as I know they've been trying patch by patch to get it to where other people would be as happy with it as I was. I didn't say I was going to blind buy the PS5 version, if they goof this up I'll return to the game when I have a better PC

Fair point, the PC version was indeed a much better version of the game but it was still full of bugs and empty promises.

But again, its not the product they promised in the slightest which is why I asked if anyone cares? Obviously SOMEBODY cares, but at this point why should anyone care/believe what CDPR has to say when it comes to Cyberpunk as they have never delivered on a single aspect of their promise.

I would be floored if they ever tried a Cyberpunk sequel.

I don't know you seem to be speaking in hyperbole how can you justify claiming they haven't delivered on a single aspect of their promise?

Shit was rough. People expected way more.
I will say that had the game been running perfectly at launch with no bugs it would not have hit the sky high expectations but I'm not sure how much of those expectations was based on actual promises and how much of it was people getting ahead of themselves.

Maybe a-ittle hyperbole but the game they promised with Cyberpunk 2077 is not the game that shipped. That is undeniable.

If you want to break it down that they delivered a game called Cyberpunk 2077 that is an open world RPG, then sure, you got me there.

But lets not pretend that Cyberpunk 2077 on paper is the same game they showed off and promised. Its a shell of the game they promised. Do we really need to bring up quotes like this on visuals to see they talked outta their ass for literal years and didn't deliver?

"It's still going to look as good as that," level designer Max Pears told Metro in a recent interview. "This is the thing now, we've got a great team. So we're gonna be trying our hardest to push the envelope. We've got the right people and the right minds to get this there for it."

This isn't a question of people running away with their expectations. They flat out lied about it. Not just about the visuals, but features and the design as well.

I am in no way willing to die on the hill that is the base console versions of this game or honestly any console version until the next gen patch and I acknowledge even that might not be a fix I'm certainly not blind buying it. This conversation began with the idea that you didn't understand why anyone cares and to me if the next-gen patch gives console gamers the experience I had on PC they have something to look forward to but the promise is a game even better than my PC experience as my experience came before lots of fixes not to mention like I said I was playing on a slightly older PC.

If they drop the ball they drop the ball there's no denying they've done it plenty but for some of us the PC version hit enough of their goals to be one of the more satisfying games of the past decade. It would be nice for console gamers to have that experience available to them but it's totally within their right to still think it came up short and didn't deliver on promises.

On paper, 2022 looks like it will be jam packed with releases.... which means many will get delayed again.

I have waited this long on CP.... whats another 6 months?

You can but it does damage. The next game won't be an insta-buy for many people, because CP2077 was poor. As a brand or business or whatever builds goodwill or loses it, that impacts on future sales. Star Wars for instance won't get the same buzz around the next mainline entry because they've fucked the pooch so hard.

Tbh the bugs and piss-poor performance on base consoles is one thing but I had it on PC, and a meaty one at that. Performance is good. There were a few bugs early on, but broadly it was ok. The problem is the game. In some ways it has the Mafia 1 problem of being in an open world but not really being an open world game, causing a certain dissonance in expectations and gameplay. The thing is the world looks stunning, it really does. The verticality of the world is great. The problem is that it's just a few textured boxes. All those buildings are just textured boxes. Very pretty ones but this is an empty city devoid of life. Pedestrians are sub-GTA level. There's no point to any of what you do. It just feels like a lifeless stage set with marionettes wandering around saying the same lines to each other in the same places over and over. It does a poor job of creating the illusion of a real breathing world. It's such a shame but it is what it is, and you can't fix that shit with a patch or DLC.

They should just make the next Star wars film mandalorian related and people will line up

I don't know how much I'll care by the time it's finally ready. And the game will probably be $10 on Ebay by then, so that's how I'll grab it. What a messed up launch this thing had.

Just dedicate it time and do it right. Fuck preassure. It's what made them fuck up in the first place.
