I haven't seen many people discuss this one yet, probably because only I and 4 other people have actually watched this fucking movie. The short summary is it basically follows Cardinal Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) in the aftermath of the Pope's death as he is essentially an administrator for the whole process of electing a new Pope.
It looks kind of interesting from the outset and for most of the movie, it is. Its a bit of a political thriller where you have different factions lobbying for votes and grappling with the direction the church should take in the modern world. Performances are solid throughout and its a pretty good looking movie. However, I always thought it was weird that a film essentially about Catholic politics got so many accolades from Hollywood. Well, now I know why...
I'm going to spoil it because fuck this movie: In the end, they unknowingly elect a guy who is a hermaphrodite. Hollywood just cant help themselves.
