Ensuring Transparency

Inspired by the 1985 true story of a drug runner's plane crash, missing cocaine, and the black bear that ate it, this wild thriller finds an oddball group of cops, criminals, tourists and teens converging in a Georgia forest where a 500- pound apex predator has ingested a staggering amount of cocaine and gone on a coke-fueled rampage for more blow … and blood.

Cocaine Bear stars Keri Russell (The Americans), Emmy winner Margo Martindale (The Americans), Emmy winner Ray Liotta (The Many Saints of Newark), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), O'Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family), Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones), Kahyun Kim (American Gods), Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth), Brooklynn Prince (The Florida Project) and newcomer Scott Seiss.

Directed by Elizabeth Banks (Charlie's Angels, Pitch Perfect 2) from a screenplay by Jimmy Warden (The Babysitter: Killer Queen), Cocaine Bear is produced by Oscar® winners Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, The Mitchells vs. The Machines) and Aditya Sood (The Martian) for Lord Miller, by Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman (Pitch Perfect franchise) for Brownstone Productions, and by Brian Duffield (Spontaneous). Robin Fisichella (Ma) will executive produce.

If he were to swallow that whole pack then he would be 100% dead. How much is in each of those? 1kg? 1.2g can kill a human. The biggest baribal ever recorded had half a ton so 1kg of cocaine would kill 400 of those. It would make sense if he were to find one bag and sniffed/licked it.

Yes because all movies are based in reality ….😆

Yeah but why 1kg? Why not make it at least a little bit plausible? Why not 1 ton of cocaine then?
Going by what was shown in the trailer, there's a scene where kids find a ripped package in the forest and think a deer got into it. If I'm going to take a guess here, I'm thinking the bear starts by eating that brick. Now the thing with cocaine is the high doesn't last that long and you always want more, in addition to becoming irritable on the comedown. The bear is going to spend most of the film running around trying to maintain his high, so I think he's going to a lot more coke than that single brick.

I guess you don't understand what "it would have killed the largest ever recorded baribal 400 times over" means.

So why are you telling me that eating a brick is even remotely plausible?

Because you asked why not a ton of cocaine and I responded that the bear is going to end up doing more cocaine. The shipment was probably a ton anyway, so maybe the bear will wander around the forest and eat 900 bricks of yayo. Not sure how that would affect the pacing of the plot, maybe they'll use an old timey title card saying "one tonne of cocaine later..." with comedic piano music underneath.

Why do you care about plausible? You're posting on a video game forum with an anime girl for an avatar lmao since when has something not being realistic been a deal breaker for you in terms of enioyment

Always has been, which is why I and many others disliked, for example, the Disney Star Wars trilogy. And the avatar is not anime.

So, since the basic premised behind the story is stupid I won't even bother watching it despite how much I like Ray Liotta.

Yeah I saw it in theatres, but it was completely sold out the first two nights. It was worth a watch, solid 90 minutes of a bear doing cocaine. Could have been a lot better with better directing/writing but overall I think you'll have a good time if you want to a watch a bear doing cocaine.

Also found it hilarious that Elizabeth Banks directed this and it grossed more opening weekend than her Charlie's Angel's reboot made total. Had nothing to do with the patriarchy or sexism, just make a fun movie that doesn't lecture and insult the audience's intelligence constantly and it will probably do decent.

For me parts of it had the feel of those 80s action adventure movies, it's just good clean fun with the odd severed limb…
