i can do this for free with duckstation and the rom! Idk what squeeenix is thinking here i can't wait for them to reverse engineer the game so i can buy the original psx version and convert it to pc with a better frame rate. Also why'd they give a option to completely turn off enemies?

I'm also not a fan of the background filter. It looks cheap. They should have made actual HD backgrounds. The original Chrono Cross looked amazing for its time on the PS1 but a proper remaster needs more work done.

However, it is nice to see they included Radical Dreamers as well as localizing for other languages.

Day 1 purchase for me and I think the $19.99 price point is OK. Not great, but OK.

I think we were all hoping for a bit more from the remaster, but I'll take what I can get. If this sells well, I hope SquareEnix thinks about remastering other PS1 era JRPGs this way, just so a new audience can play them.

Yep. "Looks mobile" is the first thing that came to mind.

I mean, cool that they're porting a classic to modern platforms. I don't mind straight ports and retro collections like this. I guess the price point is in line with that. But a "remaster"? Nah.
The game looks a lot like what PS1 games look like when they are played through modern emulators with upscaling and AA turned on.

One of the games I've always wanted to play but never could.

Is it better than Chrono trigger or what is the difference?

It's like Majora's Mask to Chrono Trigger's Ocarina of Time

I only know how to speak in Nintendo terms I'm sorry

Bit darker and more complex and the battle system is a little more complicated but the soundtrack is an absolute banger and I ain't talking about a sausage

Love CC, I'm team CC>CT i have it on my PS3/PSP/Vita but I'll double dip for the Radical Dreamers and QoL improvements and rearranged ost, not now though Stranger Of Paradise got to replay a lot of FF games, i finished it yesterday and I'm 2 trophies away from the platinum and I'm already deep into my replay of FF1 and IV on my PSP, plus i went back into 3DS backlog and started Rune Factory 4 so I'm not going to buy/play it any time soon.

It's radically (🥴) different from CT and doesn't really feel like a sequel to CT for most of it. Plus it's connections tend to make CT fans mad due to what the story (seemingly) did with some of the older characters.

I think it's safe to say the vast majority would say CT is better though CC is still a solid PS1 era game with a neat battle system that shines during the boss fights, excellent music and good visuals for the time.

The story can be iffy at points and it kinda does the old Suikoden thing where there's 60 zillion party members to acquire, which can take away from you enjoying a lot of them unless you purposely stick with certain ones (Although the game forces party changes at times). Nevertheless if you're ok with PS1 rpgs then I recommend it.
