She must have really felt the need for a 15 minute fame boost.

If she had just said she's attracted to women, or bi, or even straight up lesbian - no coverage. But, "I'm announcing that I am queer!" is the ticket to getting that name out there. What a brave and stunning womxn.

I wasn't expecting him to look like a poor man's David Harbour. In contrast to Charisma Carpenter, who had a guest appearance in an episode of Baywatch WAY before her turn as Cordelia on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Carpenter is older than him by 11 years btw, yet at 54 she looks great for her age.

I work with a guy who is 70 and he plans to retire every year.

I always think I wanna retire and do jack shit, but maybe these guys know something.

For some people the action is the juice. I suspect Georgio isn't exactly working 9-5 all that much but basically enjoys whatever role he plays in his firm and the accoutrements it brings.

Some guys are just wired to work. My dad is in his 80's, spent 30 years in the Air Force, then started two companies, ran them for ~15 years, then became the head of a Military Museum and every year when he is organizing their annual Air Show he says "next year I'll retire"

He and I are clearly cut from different cloth.

All the old guys I've worked with who just don't wanna give it up tell me the same thing - "everyone I know who retired ended up dying soon afterward. You need a reason to keep going."

I definitely don't think I'm cut from that cloth either. Though, I have to admit that when I do take time off, I find myself oddly ready to go back sometimes.

I think increasingly more people are opting to semi-retire. Maybe do like 2-3 days a week just to give themselves some routine and formal social contact (as well as some pin money on top of the pension) versus wholly calling it a day, and just waiting for death. I think if you have a lot of interests/hobbies outside of working through that keep you active, engaged and have some rich social interaction then you are probably good though.

That's the direction I could see myself going. Hell, if I won like $3M in the lottery today, I might still want a couple days a week doing something physical that forces me to move around. I believe our bodies are meant to be standing and moving for the majority of the day and that a lot of health problems come from being sedentary.

I also worked with a 76 year old who was still going at it full time. He did a different job and it was somewhat physical and he was always confused about simple details. But, that guy could outwork a lot of the 20 year old retards being hired.

The 9-5 job is just modern slavery to me.

I would retire today if I could and spend my time with hobbies/interests, socializing, and actually fucking exercising, things I feel like I never have time to do because of this goddamn fucking job that pays for the bills and my mortgage. You lose 40 hours a week to your slave job, and then when you finally have free time you're too fucking tired and demoralized by your shitty job to do anything.

Exactly. And the older you get, the less friends you have, people that visit etc. SO many older people just sitting alone in their homes with little to no social interaction. Like others here have said, it gives people a chance to live still.
