I want to pick up a tablet for comics so I can go back and read all the good shit before it got ruined by SJWs.
Any suggestions from you guys that read on tablets? Was looking at Samsung A7 and Kindle Fire 10, but apparently Kindles get slow as dogshit?

I haven't looked at tablets in years, but when I looked for a tablet for comics I realised it was either I go premium (iPad, Samsung) or find one of the very few mid-range ones, because the low end is absolute dog shit. Screen size, resolution, and speed were all infuriatingly bad. That was a few years ago. Things may be different now.

From my experience there's a few things to consider. I went for a 10" 16:9 Huawei tablet, with resolution over 1080p. It's great for whole single page reading, but that's not the only way to read.

Comixology for example will sometimes display a double page at once, and a 16:9 doesn't do the job as well there (text becomes pretty small), meaning a rotation or switching to panel by panel mode. An iPad or similar with their ~4:3 ratio works a lot better for double pages, and if you're going to use panel by panel then you won't need a large screen. You could save yourself the hassle and get any modern-ish 7/8" tablet (8 would be preferred, every little helps) and get the advantage of speed/OS updates.

A smaller tablet will also come without the weight that a 10" does, at least if you're going for a non-premium one. Mine is a bit of a tank, and it was lucky I only intended to use it for comics because it is fine for that purpose alone. Any other use is too laggy to do comfortably, and the WiFi on it is shit. Drops out all the time. That's another downside of going cheaper.

If you go iPad, be warned that Comixology disabled purchases from their app to not give Apple a cut, so it's less convenient. Amazon, who own it now, have been doing some changes (integration, app revamps) so I don't know if that will result in purchases again but it will result in integration of Kindle purchases/rentals and maybe Prime links.

Think about some of that, and most importantly your budget. The only Kindle Fire I can speak for is an older 7" one I got cheap, but it really is a waste of silicon and rare metals. Again, a few years ago, so I don't know what newer ones are like, but it reminded me of when you set a shit resolution like 480p on your 1080p monitor.

In case you are concerned about this sort of thing, be warned that a lot of digital purchases don't even pretend you own what you bought. Comixology offer backup downloads for some publishers, but Marvel/DC don't offer it. You buy a license to view. With that in mind, you might find it's worth it to just get one of the Netflix-like subscriptions that exist for broad services or specific publisher services. I have seen a Chrome add-on on GitHub that will download individual issues from the Comixology site for you, but it has to do it page by page. They really don't want you saving their stuff outside of the app.

Another recommendation for the HD 10.

It's a really good tablet for consuming material - video, books, comics, etc...

Just google how to install the full Google Play Store on it and you'll be good to go
