Welcome to Round 2, Match #5 of the Best Cult Classic Games tournament!

Previously, in the first round, we saw Rockstar's Bully narrowly win against The Warriors. Now it faces off against Square Enix's Sleeping Dogs which beat Saints Row IV. But which of these two video games is really better than the other?

Damn tough call, but Sleepy Dawgs was pretty awesome and it's a real downer that Square-Enix managed to screw the pooch by having United Front waste time on some triad wars multi-player game, that ultimately ended up shit-canned versus a direct sequel. IP had real potential to become a solid franchise. Not sure who has the IP now (Embracer maybe?) but it would be awesome to see someone revive it some day.

I've never tried Sleeping Dogs somehow. I did try the PS2 version of Bully last year, though. Really cool game, but damn does the performance tank lol

It's amazing what was acceptable back then.

Yeah, neither company mentioned Sleeping Dogs last year during Embracer's purchase but perhaps Square Enix do still own it like they continue to own Just Cause and Life is Strange. On the other hand, they considered it a commercial failure after selling close to 2 million copies.

But I loved Bully and Sleeping Dogs. Really unique and charming open world games.

Sleeping Dogs was OK I guess. I think it gets more praise than it deserves simply because it managed to be an open world game akin to gta that wasn't utterly horrible. It didn't really do anything new or different. It was a competent open world game.

Bully on the other hand took the open world concept and flipped it on its head. That game felt so unique, the setting, character and atmosphere was something we'd never experienced before. Bully is by far the superior game, it's not even a contest.
