It's a shame that MP only went online in 2021, cuz MP8 would have been a nifty game to enjoy with others. The boards weren't entirely stellar, board for board, but there were some fun ones

Had a lot of great times playing MP8 with friends and family. I still remember the last day of 10th grade. My friends came over that day and we played a game of MP8. Actually, there was a graduation event that we all went to a week or so before, and we played MP8 after that as well

Nowhere near as finely tuned as the Gamecube Mario Parties, but it was fun, it actually made some good minigames and use of the Wiimote, and there was a lot of fun to be had with the game. I only wish that DK's Jungle Treetop, and Boo's Haunted Hideout were better boards

Is it possible to play any of Mario Party games single player?

There are usually single player modes, but they're essentially just you playing versus three other computers on the boards in order to win a secret board. Or new minigames. I know MP3 has a single player mode with some unique boards. It's been so long that I can't remember how the rest go. MP2 has a very fun rollercoaster ride where you and a friend can co-op this entire way through a mine by playing minigames. MP or the original also has a single player mode now that I think back…

They usually do have them, but it's kind of just like a warm up or getting acquainted with the minigames, some boards, the spaces and maps essentially. Single player is mostly a short experience where you can earn some new content in the Mario Party series, but it was really fun when I was a kid

I'm going Other M here

It didn't feel like a Metroid game but wasn't nearly as awful as the reputation which befell upon it

Had been a unique IP, I feel it'd have been considered a hidden gem of sorts

Metroid M deserves every piece of hate it gets. Its terrible. I still bought it cuz im dumb.

Other M is decent enough if you can get used to the control scheme and ignore the goofball story. I mean, it has other strange decisions and quirks too but I'll still take it over Mario Party ∞

While I like the whole idea of Mario Party as a fun digital boardgame, I can't really say it's the kind of game I'd ever play. Other M, in the meantime, while controversial (IIRC?) among the series fans, does look like a game I'd enjoy playing, at least in theory.

I've never been into Metroid... like... at all. On the flip side, I've played a couple of the Mario Parties and had some good fun with them.

That said, Metroid: Other M looks pretty sweet. Just going off the vids in the OG post, I think I'm actually going to go with M.

Other M was a perfectly fine game. The hate for it was mostly unwarranted from people that couldn't cope with the idea that a woman working on behalf of the military would ever have to ask for permission from a man. The writing wasn't perfect by any means, but the hate toward it always felt overblown.
