According to influencer Tom Henderson, who has published several Battlefield 6 reports over the past months – some corroborated by journalists – DICE's new instalment will simply be known as Battlefield.
The game will reportedly take place around ten years from now, and feature near future equipment such as military robots and advanced drones, jets, helicopters and tanks.
According to Henderson, DICE has revamped the game's campaign for a branching story which will allow players to switch sides as they progress, and play through in co-op with other players.
Henderson:
The campaign will focus on you and your specialist unit, where you'll be able to choose which superpower you fight for. Both the USA and Russia, who are the game's only standing superpowers, will offer to 'recruit' your specialist team and their skills throughout the campaign, which will be a valuable asset to both sides.
On multiplayer, Henderson says players will be able to choose between four different soldier types and customise them with Call of Duty-style "perks". For example, a Scout soldier might have silent footsteps, whereas an Assault soldier might be able to sprint for a longer duration.
Finally, it's claimed that Battlefield 6 will feature a separate battle royale mode, disconnected from the Firestorm game added to Battlefield V.
Henderson previously claimed Battlefield 6 would focus on modern-day military combat and that its maps would be "designed with 128+ players in mind".
