Thread: Base games vs DLCs
Hey Pad, was wondering what you people think is better. The base game, or it's DLCs? I made this thread since I recall some DLCs being very different from the base game to the point where it can feel like it's own game in execution, tone, etc. so it can actually rival a base game in terms of someone preferring the DLC over the base game. For me, I almost always prefer the base game over the DLC/set of DLCs...basically the only exception to me preferring the DLC over the base game is RE5's Lost in Nightmares...that was neatly executed overall and preferred it over the base RE5. That fixed camera easter egg was perfection! So Pad, which do you prefer, the base game or the DLC?

More often than not, I have the feeling that DLCs are just a welcome opportunity to make money with ideas and content that didn't make it to the game - for quality and/or design reasons.

Not meaning that they can't be fun. But most of the time, the base game is best. Only in very few cases, the DLCs are superior.

The Citadel DLC for Mass Effect 3 was vastly superior to the base game, and quite honestly what I consider the trilogy's true ending (the Reapers just die offscreen somehow as far as I'm concerned, which is still a better, more sensible, well written and satisfying end than what we actually got).
