God damn, like someone else said in a different thread, too many games coming out. I still really want to play the first one. Anyone here played and have thoughts on the 1st one?

I have. Really good and unique Metroidvania, excellent creepy, oppressive atmosphere and batshit story, good balance of puzzles and exploration, but I found it had a slightly too difficult a learning curve for combat.

Honestly though, the fact it's all the work of one single guy meant the few rough edges were more than forgivable, and they weren't ever truly a degradation of the experience. I'd give it a 8/10, great game.

Interested by this (at least if it ever comes to Xbox).

The first game was good but had that one-man dev team feel to it, which meant it was limited in some ways (particularly in the story department).

With a bigger budget and more fans, I'm hoping they'll go bigger and bolder, while still remaining true to the NES style roots.

Axiom Verge was a great Metroidvania that I’d highly recommend. It was a little limited, but easily one of the better games in the genre for the switch.
