This is one of, if not THE best, "guy movies" ever put on film.
It's just big fucking men kicking ass. No "strong wahmen" or any bullshit like that. Testosterone cranked up to 11.
We'll never have anything like that again and that, my friends, is so depressing.
Predator is an absolute masterpiece of a movie. Like you say, the 80's action movie testosterone fueled bagasse are all dialled up to 11, and they still get outclassed and taken out one by one by a creature thats an easy 12 on that sane scale, without ever making rhe protagonists seem pathetic or weak to do it.
I'll add this to the thread:
Aliens has some amazing moments, but this scene shows both the absolute nightmare of the creatures, silently outmanouvering and outsmarting the humans, seemingly unstoppable and innumerable, but in doing so bringing out the best (and worst) in everyone present, from Hudsons last stand, Vasquez single handedly holding the Line, Ripley protecting Newt, and even Burke's weasels comeuppance, it's a bombastic action crescendo that caps off the Marines main arcs and marries the movies action and horror perfectly.
Then there's this, which is probably the most cathartic awesome moments of badarsery committed to film, the moment Ripley goes from victim to heroine, the destroying, avenging angel and wrathful mother, laying waste to the very heart of the monsters that have tormented her, killed almost everyone she's known and ruined her life. They're meant to be the ultimate lifeform, and yet in this one moment, she teaches them fear.
