Thread: Assassin's Creed Shadows Thread: Ninja Gaiden Black (delayed to March 20, 2025)
So, who do you guys think will make the bid to gobble Ubi up? I assume it will be Tencent.

Might be. But every investor will look at how they failed at making a Star Wars game successful, and how they butchered their main cash cow with Shadows. I don't think investors are lining up right now. They'll be waiting for Shadows, and see if that'll damage Ubi even more, to then buy all the IPs.

That makes zero commercial sense given the size of the audience they'd supposedly be targeting. I 1000% believe the company is stupid beyond belief, but I do not believe they are making any commercial choices thinking they'd strike gold with the BLM audience. Their can not be any metric or model out their that would support such a business choice. "Lets put all are chips in on a .5% target market, that'll make money!".

This looks and smells like made up BS.

Looks and smells like BS, which means it's probably 100 percent true.

I'm honestly surprised that anyone thinks these companies aren't 100% behind going fully woke regardless of the consequences.

The middle class, rich, educated elites throughout tech, media, industry finance and government all believe this stuff is the future, inevitable, desirable and either what the majority want or what the majority can be MADE to want.

We're dealing with people who either have an innate outgroup bias or are extremely thick and don't understand their ideas are stupid, but do 'know' they deserve to have power and success and that their ideas are better than anyone else's.

We are dealing with narcissists and traitors basically. That's the core fundamentals of the people the post Second World War, American Empire era is built by and for, and that are now reaching their peak of decadence and decay before it all comes crumbling down.

At the end of all great civilisations, art turns to crap as the end grows closer and that society's particular strengths become it's weaknesses.

Video games were young enough and had a high enough skill barrier to entry that it avoided the same fate other art had for a while, but we're not at the point any old idiot can get into a position of power in the industry if they occupy the right position of power within the wider social system.

At least we still have indies.

Oh you still think Western entertainment businesses make decisions based on profit? That's cute.

Every business has to make money to a certain degree and cares about selling many copies of their games. Even if we assume they are just activists - activists want to spread their message and reach a large audience. They want to grow, to have funds to spread the message even more with the next game.

I'd say profit is definitely an important part of their decision making process. The issue being, they are so captured in the woke bubble, so convinced of their moral superiority, sniffing their own farts while masturbating, that they truly believe that their products are attractive and will make a lot of money. They're convinced to be working on total bangers.

So I agree in part with your take, the ideological motivation is the main factor here and drives their decision making process, completely shutting off their common sense. Causing them to believe that most people out there are just like them and will eat that shit up.

Absolutely.

I'd say it's worse though, because their ideology fundamentally hinges on rejecting reality and replacing it with utopianist, anti human, anti nature, anti facts core Tenets.

Failure will not convince them to change course.

They will absolutely repeat the same mistakes over and over, doubling down despite all sense and reason, ignoring the clear evidence of the outcome of their actions and displeasure of the majority, because they believe they are unequivocally and unquestionably right.

At best they will revert to weak and weasely tactics and make the propaganda less obvious, but even that will be resisted, because they will feel they shouldn't have to alter their behaviour in any way in the face of the 'far right', and will do everything they can to reassure themselves that the 'modern audience' they represent is either the majority now, that they need to stand up for and 'save' from facist bullies, or the inevitable future they need to bring about, because this is all a bastardisation of Christianity at it's core, with every single wokeist animated by a raging messiah complex.

No, I don't agree.

Sure, there are individuals in the organization who wanna make profit and they think everyone will love their ideas, but by and large these people believe tearing down the old culture is just as important as propping up their desired culture. Also remember that a big part of modern art culture is snubbing the masses and delivering "true art" whether they like it or not. The same snobbishness that says "oh you just don't understand that painting" is now saying "oh you're just a racist for not liking black samurai in your historical action game".

So, take a company like Microsoft which was a big part of 80s and 90s culture, wokeify their gaming brand, and then you either succeed by making the brand more popular which spreads your message, or if the brand dies you still succeed because you've torn down a pillar of the Old Culture.

Liberal aren't complex, really, and liberal beliefs about "profit" aren't a secret. We see the behavior in front of our faces and we hear them voice their goals openly. I don't understand the skepticism in 2024.

The woke layer is omnipresent in these companies, across all their ideas for games. Now the process starts of allocating resources, plan the spending, do the financial forecast. Different projects and ideas are being pitched, all woke garbage as we established. It's not a differentiator and has no big influence on what game will be made. They decide based on the business case where investments, costs, revenue, ROI etc. are being laid out. Ideology plays into that, them assuming the game will sell x amount because people love non binary gender fluid characters. They define sales targets, revenue targets, dev support for patches and DLC, make a plan over five years with targets they want to meet.

They don't just start developing games. The higher ups love to get paid and need games to sell well to get their bonus payments. Even if the devs themselves don't care about money or success, the Execs do, very much so. But they're blinded by ideology.

I have to agree. I mean, look at Reed Hasting endorsing Harris and causing a huge wave of Netflix cancellations. He's the CEO and a responsibility to his shareholders, but he's an ideologue first and foremost.

These people don't give a fuck. To them they're just breaking a few eggs to make an omelette.

I am always shocked by just having conversations within my circle of friends, how leftist and woke brainwashed everybody is.

It's no wonder these people think they are doing the right thing, without noticing the wider public out there despises their shit..

If Melonie was put in charge, all the dialogue would just say "You're a mod edit"

I would actually buy that game. Full price.

It's nothing new here in the Philippines. I know people who absolutely despise current president Bongbong Marcos because of his association with his dad, the late Ferdinand Marcos.

Despite winning the popular vote and becoming president, some people are paranoid he'll become a supposed 'dictator' like his dad was. My mom has friends who are hardline anti-Marcos despite the family being out of the presidency for more than 30 years since the elder Marcos was ousted in 1986. They seem blind to the fact that the liberals who took over after Marcos did such a shit job running the country that people were more than willing to vote in the son to office.

It's a Gundam reviews Ubisofts choices when it comes to represent Japan in their award winning Assassin's Creed series.

They will hold the line

Skimmed through the article, and they refuse to even address the controversies regarding their changes to Japanese history. Or the fact that their AI generated slop of a game is mixing environments from Japan with Chinese and South Asian countries. Just a bunch of whining over they got called out over this blatantly offensive entry to the Assassin's Creed franchise.

Fuck these people. Go ahead and double down and bring down the rest of Ubisoft with you fucking cunts.

Awesome, hold the line against those pesky customers. What company even needs them? You're dealing with so many issues because of them, customers are such a headache. Way easier without them.

Great long term strategy by Eurogamer and Ubisoft. Keep doing that, more power to you.
