Thread: Assassin's Creed Shadows Thread: Ninja Gaiden Black (delayed to March 20, 2025)
Probably doesn't matter how good or bad these previews would be you'll still have the same bunch trashing it online. So why bother. Funny how every Ubisoft game gets 10x more hate than Concord or Dragon Age 4. Somebody is pulling the strings against Ubisoft and sheeple bites it.

Hahahaha! Get it right up ye!

I just don't think UBI recognizes how long they've been going to the AC well without giving us the ninja game we always wanted.

They've burnt all good will with even their most loyal of customers as evidenced by the DEI backlash with Outlaws.

As somebody who still plays the AC games and dumped 70+ hours in to Valhalla.....there's literally nothing exciting or interesting about an AC game anymore despite the location/era/character.

The real story has gone on FAR TOO LONG without giving us a real endgame scenario. At this point it's a cookie cutter mold of climbing towers, killing cultists, and repeat.

It really does not matter if this next AC game is the best they've ever made. It's still just going to be another fucking AC game.

I'm kind of amazed that they didn't look at the recent Hitman games and just start with a concept of "copy Hitman but have the game set in historical locations".

For Hitman loads of content meant tons of weapons and outfits and cool ways to complete missions in small sandbox levels with tons of replayability. For AC loads of content just means a giant map that is mostly desert or fields and the same boring missions and enemy bases.

Hitman became the better assassin game and AC feels like it is trying to be a bit of a "something for everyone" game.

I'd be fine if they just quietly forgot about the meta narrative and continued to use it as a mold for different historical settings. That's always been the main appeal for me and I really enjoyed Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. I'm totally fine with more like those, but this attempt is just insulting and clearly lacking the same degree of care.

I have a feeling this game just gets cancelled. Ghosts of Tsushima already did it and there was no need for this game. Not only that, you made a game based in Japan about samurai's and then had the balls to make the main character black lol. What the flying fuck were you thinking?

Of all the possibilities in the world, you listed the least possible. Too much money is wrapped up in this.

Possibly but they're giving refunds for the games preorders. I'm not sure why they would do that otherwise? I could just be reading into it too much .

They probably had to issue refunds due to some legality issues with moving the game to next year or removing the early access perk.

AC: Shadows will release in February almost exactly like it is now. They are pulling the game in the hopes that gamers forget about all the bad press surrounding it. Unfortunately for them, February of next year is pretty loaded release wise and the Internet never forgets. Shadows won't do well.

I bet you Ytubers like Nerdrotic and It'saGundam will come out with videos near the release date to remind people of all the shit Ubiwoke pulled with this game.

I didn't realize they were issuing refunds to preorders. That's pretty serious. Makes me wonder if the speculation/rumors about them dumping the game entirely has some truth to it. No one wants their game to be the next Concord…

Looks like they are cancelling preorders of special editions because they won't be offering few days early access anymore.

That's better than requiring those who paid Early Access for Star Wars Outlaws to delete their early access saves and restart their game.

Ubisoft is learning. That would be doubleplus good for consumers.

Wait, what?

Early access users got punished by playing early and had to restart the game when it launched?

What a shit show.

New Cope dropped by Yves guillemot and Ubisoft:

'Our goal is not to push any specific agenda': Ubisoft CEO tries to mollify gamers who won't stop being mad about a Black samurai in Assassin's Creed Shadows

"I want to reaffirm that we are an entertainment-first company, creating games for the broadest possible audience, and our goal is not to push any specific agenda," Guillemot said in today's financial update. "We remain committed to creating games for fans and players that everyone can enjoy."...

"I want to make it clear that we, at Ubisoft, condemn these hateful acts in the strongest possible terms, and I encourage the rest of the industry and players to denounce them, too," Guillemot said at the time. "I am proud to support the amazing work of our teams and partners, and I will always trust in their creative choices."

We want to make gamed for everyone and by everyone we mean the tiny small subset of activists who don't play games. And everyone who disagrees can go fuck themselves and don't play our games. Until the game bombs then give us money but still fuck you.

I'm ready for Ubisoft to go under or get bought up and disappeared. It's time...

And this is why games suck now a days.

Olden day Devs would sleep in their office and work 8 days a week to get a game out.

While I don't think any of us want to work that way, I think it shows how the industry has moved from one of passion to now one of by the numbers/works by committees and people punching in/out for paychecks, not because they love what they do and the project they are on. I suppose all industries go through it, be it TV, movies, books, music, and games. Lots of souless, passionless trash produced by the bucketful to fill the masses appetite for "stuff".

There's actually a stipulation on some store fronts (including the PS store) that if your game falls beyond a certain date from intended release you have to issue refunds. It happened with the second South Park game, Fractured But Whole.

No idea if anything in this is true or not, but it sure does all sound rather plausible and the industry observations certainly match up with what I've seen in my narrow neck of the woods.

When the delay was first announced, I thought it had to be a placeholder and there would be further substantial delays, but I guess we'll find out in January or February!

That makes zero commercial sense given the size of the audience they'd supposedly be targeting. I 1000% believe the company is stupid beyond belief, but I do not believe they are making any commercial choices thinking they'd strike gold with the BLM audience. Their can not be any metric or model out their that would support such a business choice. "Lets put all are chips in on a .5% target market, that'll make money!".

This looks and smells like made up BS.

It seems totally plausible to me. Companies were falling over themselves after George Floyd to express their solidarity and comittments to "accelerate DEI efforts." I think we've already seen plenty of games that were affected by decisions made in that fervor.

I highly suspect Forspoken is another clear example of a race swap for Floyd's sake.

But where is the business/money sense in that? There is no market there. I can imagine the creatives thinking it a good idea, but why aren't the bean counters stepping in and saying "WTF are you doing?".

I really think you don't understand the atmosphere in a lot of these tech/entertainment companies in the west. The execs are ideologically comitted to this shit (or too afraid to speak up). The consultants and writers that get hired on these projects are fully committed to the cause. Most of the people that have been hired in the last 5+ years are aligned with the agenda.

Bad numbers will lead most of them to just thinking they didn't go far enough and doubling down on their diversity efforts. It will take actual bankruptcies and companies falling apart for anything to actually change. Whether we like it or not, the majority of the people actually working in these industries and making decisions from day to day are radical Leftists for the most part.

They'll say it's the customers fault. Many such cases.
