Whats up boomers - lets get sticky

I've wanted to get into Splatoon but it seems like one of those things that you have to play online to even enjoy it at all.

Why not play online? You scared?
I actually enjoyed playing the first one on Wii U but I guess it didn't grab me hard enough to buy the sequels on Switch.
If Nintendo game prices weren't retardofucked, I would buy more games like this just to play here and there.
I put hundreds of hours into Splatoon 2 but the demo for 3 didn't grab me. I think I'm splatted out for the time being. If you've got 2, I'll squid up for a few rounds
More of a Foamstars kind of guy.
Plus I don't have Nintendo online any longer!
You wont even play Tekken you little beeyotch![]()
It was midnight! I'm about all weekend for you to embarrass me.
What's the multiplayer like? I've only played like 5 min of Splatoon 2 demo. If there isn't a lot of strategy involved then I probably made the right choice
Yeah, this for sure. Plus just knowing that you're going to fork out $60 for a game that won't even retain online support in a couple of years. I mean, what do you even do with Splatoon 2 if you own it since it's out of seasons afaik?? The one saving grace is that if you have Nintendo Online, I think you're getting the expansions with your subscription. (I'm probably wrong about this but too lazy to look it up)
Those game types sound interesting, maybe I'll purchase the next Splatoon if Nintendo upgrades their online support with their new consoleNo strategy but plenty of tactics
Turf War is the easiest mode and then loops around to being the hardest at high skill levels -- paint the most territory, highest percentage wins.
Splat Zones is paint and defend a set area in the center of the map your color for 100 ticks (with penalty time added when you lose the zone)
Tower Control is capture and ride a moving tower along a set path from the center of the map towards the enemy base.
Rainmaker is a "capture the flag" mode, but the flag is a weapon.
Clam Blitz is the most degenerate, but honestly the most strategic -- pick up clams distributed across the map, 8 makes a football/rugby ball which lights you up on the map (no more hiding)... throw the ball into the basket near the enemy base (20 pts), which opens it up for all clams to thrown in for two points. Basket stays open for ten seconds, or as long as clams are thrown in. Points count down from 100.
High skill ceiling, and yes you can have a strategic mindset when playing. Helps to have a team, but you can "quarterback" a solo queue once you learn the maps, the meta, match flow, and player/weapon tendencies. Usually a back line or support role — definitely harder to make your team win than to be a 20- splat hero blaming your team for your losses.
Near perfect information presented in the HUD plus the ability to watch match replays, you can tickle the MOBA / RTS parts of your brain if you wanted. Or just be a cro-mag with Emperry Dualies or QR Splatana.

All of Japan is behind Splatoon, it's almost as big as Pokémon over there. Always loved the concept, they struck gold with it too. But I'll wait until Splatoon 4. Haven't trusted an online multiplayer shooter since Halo and Gears of War dwindled away into obscurity. If I'm gonna jump into a shooter online multiplayer experience again it has to be excellent. Great weapons, outstanding maps, decent campaign, tactics and strategies being utilized heavily throughout a match. Maybe Splatoon 4 will be that game
