Devil's advocate....

According to this, American Comics are doing extremely well. Lots of people trying to throw salt of course.

So what do you think? Is this whole idea of American comics waning not really the case.

The big Two are only surviving because giant corporations like Disney (Marvel) and Time Warner (DC) are backing them. They would have folded under long ago with their abysmal sales numbers.

Also, 100,000 copies sold is pretty pathetic in comparison to the million copies sold by comics in the 90's. Best example being X-Men 1 by Marvel. And that tweet only shows copies sold to retailers, not to comic buyers themselves.

I wish i'd picked up the new Spidey reboot from #1

Wonder what he's up to lately

🤔

the biggest hiccup with comics is that theyre a bitch to store. even graphic novels and TPBs can be cumbersome once you own enough

i have no clue what to do with my old comics and i feel like a goon throwing em out

This is why I went digital on a tablet. My brother has a ENORMOUS collection of TPB and after helping him move 3 times I never want to do that shit again. Digital I just swap a memory card and boom.

Also the biggest issue comics have vs manga is they swap writers so frequently there's no consistency. Artists/writers fuck up ALL the time. I just finished reading a series from 1998 that ended abruptly AF cause they fired the writer and then the next few issues were just a complete fucking disaster and made no sense with a bunch of errors. Then suddenly next appearances of those characters are like the last 10 appearance before never happened, but don't explain what did happen. Mix in those kinds of inconsistencies with stupid woke nonsense and all this multi-verse shit happening, with constant retcons and soft reboots, it's a fucking mission to enjoy comics. I have to make an effort to enjoy them.

This is especially true now that the wokie SJW cult have taken over the Big Two of Marvel and DC. Is it any surprise that comic sales are at an all time low? Because someone had the bright idea that writing about socially relevant topics like Orange Man Bad and transgender rights was more important than telling stories that made these characters beloved among fans.

Here's hoping once the SJW fad dies out someone does a company wide reboot and does away with all the shit that has infested mainstream comic books for the last few years.

Dude I would love to fix them. I'd take everything back to the 90s and undo almost every single thing forward. The only gay character in comics would be Northstar. My debut issue would have Iceman banging a harem of bitches.
