Renowned filmmaker James Cameron has seemingly confirmed he is working on multiple sequels to 2019's Alita: Battle Angel.

Cameron is reportedly looking to sell his coastal ranch in California for $33 million. In a recent interview with Forbes, he explained one of the reasons behind putting the property on the market is he is involved in various projects that take him elsewhere. Among those projects are the long-awaited Alita: Battle Angel sequels.

"On Avatar, I'm working in Wellington and Los Angeles," he said. "And on the new Alita: Battle Angel films, I'll be working in Austin, so it just didn't make sense for us anymore."

While Cameron appears to casually confirm multiple Alita: Battle Angel sequels are moving forward, this is one of the most promising updates so far for fans who have long called for an expansion of the Alita franchise, using the hashtags #AlitaArmy and #AlitaSequel on social media to push for a sequel to get made.

The fan campaign even invaded the Oscars in 2020 when a plane carrying a banner calling for an Alita: Battle Angel sequel was spotted flying around Hollywood during the Academy Awards red carpet. After years of uncertainty, it seems Cameron and others are finally answering the calls for the Alita franchise to get more movies.

Producer Jon Landau recently revealed he was talking to director Robert Rodriguez and star Rosa Salazar about a new film, and actor Christoph Waltz has already indicated he would be game for returning to reprise his role as Alita's adoptive guardian in a potential sequel.
