Can't say I'm too excited about the Prometheus stuff showing up. Nothing against it aesthetically, just that it and Covenant are an embarrassing mistep in the franchise I'd like to see swept under the rug like Resurrection and the AvP movies.

Unless they're going to bring in some fan nods from the old, actually good, Dark Horse comics stuff, they really should just stick to elements from Alien and Aliens.

Hard to tell but those stone faces look like Engineers from Prometheus.

I doubt it's anything more than decor. I doubt you'll play or fight against an Engineer.

Although maybe you'll end up fighting a Gina face hugger or one of those proto-xenomorphs.

I honestly can't play Isolation. There's three things I'm genuinely frightened of, and Aliens are one of them.

Watched a full playthrough on YouTube though. Crackingly well made game.

It's a completely different kind of game though. Team based shooter, let's see how that turns out.

Those screenshots are nice though!
Right, I just mean in terms of quality. The franchise has had a pretty rough history when it comes to game adaptations. It was nice to put one in the win column.

I honestly think that's a misconception based purely on Colonial Marines being a raging skip fire that gearbox kept throwing soiled nappies onto.

Plenty of Alien (and AvP) games have been brilliant. Hell, Aliem Resurrection on the PS1 was the first game to nail modern twin stick shooter controls.

Even the AvP game that came out before CM's was at least solid, if not doing anything new with the franchise. It's marine campaign was probably the best adaptation of the feel and atmosphere of Aliens we've ever had, and it's Alien campaign genuinely compelling and giving character to the usually unsympathetic Biomechnical killing machines.

Isolation might be the peak, but most Alien games were closer to it in quality than the crater that was CM.

I am super bummed we never got the Aliens ARPG though. Everything I've seen and heard of that game looked exactly what I've always wanted, and it was apparently far enough along in development that the decision to can it for CM just seemed completely retarded.

Yeah, could be. I also think I'm confusing another sci-fi game that was similar to the franchise, but for the life of me I can't figure out what I'm thinking of.

Resurrection was innovative for sure, but I still don't have many fond memories of playing it back in the day for whatever reason.

I'm a gigantic Alien fan, so I'm hyped AF about this. A part of me was pretty disappointed we didn't get more than this on Alien day, but I was still happy to see some new content. Really hoping the game is gonna be decent.
