He and a lot of his ilk turned out to be thoroughly tedious midwits that have seemingly developed a slowly boiling frog mentality.
So much of what he once railed against is now normalised and become past his caring. The Anita Sarkesians of the world, that he once fought against, are now in charge of the way games are made, but because they've become mainstream he will attack their critics as readily as he used to attack them for trying to change the industry as it was.
He has no real moral or intellectual stance on anything, just the old 90's and early 2000's apathy and resistance to change or even trying, that led to extremists being able to gain so much ground in all walks of life.
He's just this dull, slug like, slacker man child, no better than Boogie, Yahtzee, the Easy Ally crew or Jim Stirling, just angry at everything, especially things that threaten the status quo he's comfortable with, while being unwilling to actually do anything himself, even just working out why he is the way he is.
But particularly he seems to mostly hate anyone that cares about anything. Right or left, he really seems to just want everyone to choose the same path of stagnation he has taken.
