By Crom, the actress to wield the savage sword of Red Sonja has been found.

Hannah John-Kamen, who starred as a villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp and was a lead in series Brave New World, will star in Millennium's long-gestating sword and sorcery feature.

Joey Soloway is directing the project and co-wrote the script with Tasha Huo, the screenwriter who is showrunning and executive producing the upcoming animated Tomb Raider series for Netflix and Legendary.

"Hannah is a very talented actress who we've been following for years and she IS Red Sonja," said Soloway in a statement. "Her range, sensibilities and strength are all qualities we have been looking for and we couldn't be more excited to embark on this journey together."

Redhead discrimination!!!

Personally she's too skinny to be red Sonja. Even Brigitte N was way too skinny imo.

Hope she packs on the pounds b/c lifting a sword that conan could easily swing around as well is gonna be funny as hell if she's got twig arms.

First, I had not considered the red head discrimination in entertainment media. But damn if that is not a very large example set. If anyone needs a role model they can look to so they can feel good about their physical appearance its the red heads. Some pull it off.... most do not. They are one of those (currently) forgotten marginalized groups.

I personally do not care for re-imagined characters. I think its a weak move by the creatively bankrupt. If you like a character, use the character as is (allowing for small nip/tucks over the years) or create a new character. Its that simple. I still do not accept Sam Jackson as Nick Fury. Sorry after decades of knowing him as a dude with a very distinct look, it just dont work. While Red Sonja is a minor IP (to me at least), I do have a fond attachment to the 1980's film with Brigitte Nielsen & Arnold. Looking at the woman being cast here.... feels all wrong. She looks frail and I cant see how she is going to pull off (natural) red hair. But that is assuming the red hair is cannon to the lore. I am only familar with the film.

I would care less if this was allowed to go all ways. Anyone can play anyone and none is offensive or hateful in nature. Seriosuly, we should be fine with hetrosexuals playing homosexuals, White Samurais, Black Medieval Kings, Indian Mafia, Cuban Zulu warriors, Arab Martin Luther Kings and East Asian Pharohs. If we cant do that, then lets stay 100% accurate without exception.

Second, whats that about a Brave New World series? Like Aldous Huxley's book? If its made in the last 5 years I have to assume its complete dogshit. But, lets step back... who would want to turns that dystopian nightmare of overindulgence, self aggrandizing and ridged caste system into a series? Well actually I could see HBO/Cinemax/Showtime doing it as a skin flick series and play up the "everyone belongs to everyone" aspect and the sexual "feely" performances/shows. Beyond that... whatis there? The characters are almost all retarded. The Savage is the only one with any sense (which is intended). Read the book if you want something of value.... cuz its the deeper messaging not the setting, characters or events.

BLACK Panther.
RED Sonja.

The reasons for the colours in their names are the same.
If Sonja was the one in a baziillion dark-skinned redheads I'm sure her nick would be more interesting than 'Red'.
She is a white-skinned redhead. End of story.
