The SP was such an awesome system. The backlight was such an awesome feature. I really wanted one, but since I already got a Gamecube around that time for Christmas, I was more focused on getting games for that.

Craziest part to me is that it had insane battery life since it was also the model where they switched to an internal battery, even with the backlight you could play it all day long. Only real drawback was removing the 3.5mm jack and requiring a dongle to use headphones.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is such a crazy game. Half of the time, it's a blast. The other half, it's as if you never played the game and infuriating, or at the very least frustrating. There are the guys who master the game who can get 1st-3rd place at will. Then there's the rest battling for scraps. The worst place to be is 6th, or 7th place, it's like a death trap and guaranteed ass whooping if you make even the slightest mistake or aren't armed with good items. Even then, it might not matter and you still might get smacked

That's why the latter spots are best. Blast everyone else with items and enjoy yourself that way.

With Mario Kart World having 24 spots, I'm guessing the one mistake and you're doomed thing will be even worse.

If you're not first, you're last boi. I hate the feeling of being 12th-10th place, and 9th-5th feels just about as bad. Being 1st is tough too because you only get coins. 2nd place gets red shells. The item system in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is just unspeakably frustrating. It's like they want the games to be 50-50 no matter what so the items randomizer is set to create that outcome

I'll try to be a better competitor in Mario Kart World; race some good times in the Time Trials. Hone my skills there in that mode. That game will probably become the best MK game

The mechanics in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are absolutely phenomenal, the most fun racing I've ever played in a video game. It's the items and their assigned probability to players 1-12 that is questionable. I think a lot of the courses were designed without 200 CC in mind as well. Maybe that's not true, but some of the turns with a fast character have to be anticipated long before you actually arrive to that point and executed with near perfect precision. Skill ceiling for MK8 Deluxe is insanely high

That's good. The trauma of being shelled, falling and then being hit with a bomb will be a lot more manageable then. 😅

Yeah I agree with that. Completely. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe almost goes out of its way to destroy a player if they get hit right at the wrong tine while going off of a jump. Sometimes you'll get hit with a shell or whatever before a boost ramp and the process is this:

1) You get hit
2) You fall off the racetrack
3) Lakitu takes his sweet time
4) Lakitu drops you off way before where you got hit sometimes
5) Fast approaching opponents destroy you again before you even can get back up to speed, killing all momentum

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is pure madness like 90-95% of the races you race in at 200 CC

I remember this being particularly bad in Mario Kart Wii. I once went from being in 1st place and less than a second from the finish line to finishing near last. It went something like blue shell, then red shell, green shell out of pure multiplayer spite, another blue shell, and then I finally crossed. I was actually chattering swear words but we were all laughing so hard at the amount of grief and misfortune of that turn of events. Like, seriously, WTF Mario Kart Wii.

Get nuked boy. That happens routinely in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, just not 1st to 12th when right near it. But it is common to be in first with just a coin as an item, and then yards from the finish line you get hit and find yourself in like 5th place then cross the finish line in shame and confusion. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe takes no prisoners

The one thing missing in 8 is the sense of height/veritgo during large jumps/falls. I used to love San Francisco Rush for that reason.

What happens if we buy a game supported by Cloud on NS, can we play that same game we bought on Cloud for the NS2?

Not claiming to know, but I feel like maybe the way it runs Switch 1 games will make it so the cloud server just sees it as a Switch 1? Maybe there's some mode or emulation layer going on that'll make stuff like this just work.

Has anyone used an amiibo emulator? I'm curious about them because some perks in some games are fun, like getting epona in BOTW, but I don't want to collect figurines.

Yeah. I got one because I didn't want to take them out of the boxes.

I'll probably wait for the regular digital games rather than Cloud, if they are available at any point. Maybe Nintendo will release physical copies for some of the Cloud games since their new hardware will be a lot more capable this time around

Is it annoying to use? I imagine it's "download file for Amiibo X on computer, plug in device, transfer over file" but is finding the file a pain in the ass?

It wasn't back when I did it. Just some Google searches. I probably still have the link saved somewhere.

Wasn't too excited to see that they made a dynasty Zelda game, but was on the fence once they said it had a canon story. Now I'm more leaning towards purchasing the game because it kind of sounds like this will be worth the time. I'm not big on Mineru, but Rauru and Sonia and the others will be characters I'd like to see; especially in how they handle the Imprisoning War. This game might provide the story that was largely absent in TOTK. From Zelda's perspective, that's what I'm most interested in. Because in BOTW she was about as resilient as a character as it gets considering what she was able to do. But in TOTK, I felt like Nintendo EPD dropped the ball and didn't build even a decent story with all that Zelda did. Things just had to be done, they happened, and that's how Nintendo decided to present it to use when we played the game. With Age of Imprisonment, TOTK can basically have its story filled in. Age of Imprisonment is starting to catch my curiosity a little bit now that we know that there will be more of what people had to deal with and fight through during the war. I loved the overworld in TOTK because almost everywhere you went, there were skirmishes and full-on battles sometimes. Hyrule was at war

But in Age of Imprisonment, it would be the actual war, the very first one that took place before A Link to the Past. From what I gathered from the story in TOTK, Ganondorf had less resources to make use of in TOTK than the first time? We know that in TOTK that his attempts to divide and conquer were necessary because he had no army outside of what he could conjure with Gloom. But luckily, no area of Hyrule was overtaken, it was just Ganondorf and Gloom enemies. No Gerudo to command and no allies like Koume and Kotake second time around

Zelda and the rest will definitely have their work cut out for themselves in Age of Imprisonment, that's going to be a chaotic game

Hyrule Warriors 2 had pretty good gameplay mechanics including switching between 4 characters on the map on the fly, and ordering the other characters to attack certain enemies or go to a particular place. I'm not sure what can be improved gameplay wise to be honest.

The story of TOTK can definitely be fleshed out in this game though. The BOTW/TOTK Hyrule is getting a whole lot of attention. It's going to be weird when they move on to the next iteration of Hyrule to be honest.

People seemed to enjoy the first one a lot and Age of Calamity was even better apparently. Age of Imprisonment will be the best one, and then the Hyrule in BOTW/TOTK will end there. It would be a mistake to continue on in this direction and we know that Nintendo EPD had no plans for DLC as they believe they exhausted all that can be done in the game. I honestly cannot wait for the day we get a trailer showing a new mysterious land to explore outside of Hyrule Kingdom. It's been since 2000 in Majora's Mask that fans have seen a place like Termina in one of the headlining 3D Zelda games for a major console

Nintendo thinks they will sell 15 million NS2 consoles during the launch window and Bloomberg is saying that the number could exceed 20 million consoles sold as that's the number of units Nintendo is trying to produce to meet demand

It's time for Nintendo to crush the Playstation and Xbox consoles again!

I did like Hyrule Warriors 2, and will probably like 3, but I think that the first one was more fun to play to be honest. It was a lot more wacky and unstructured.

And it had a skimpy villainess for some reason:

If I wasn't going to get the Switch 2 soon, I would be trying to get Hyrule Warriors for the Switch. I sold off my Wii U a couple of years ago and I think Hyrule Warriors is the main game I haven't reacquired yet.
The stores in Australia don't really stock Hyrule Warriors, so I have to go to ebay to acquire it.

Light work mctitts, light work. Analytics are pointing towards NS2 selling 100 million by 2029 but we'll see

I'd be surprised if they can sell that much with a higher price tag. Although the PS5 has had price increases and still manages to sell pretty well, so it is possible I suppose.

Should sell a ton. All these guys fretting over an additional $150 that we've seen all across the web are some drama queens and crybabies tbh. It's going to sell no matter what and software again will be the decider on how many units will sell. With the higher price tag that will be a minor obstacle sure but if the games are going to be as great as Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are looking?

Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza releasing in the first month or so of release > Wii Sports and Twilight Princess for the Wii and Wii sold a bit over 100 million. If Nintendo continues what they're doing with the big titles and then continue to build NSO, remake great GBA, DS, GCN, Wii games as they have been then NS2 should be another massive success. I don't see any holes in the business plan but maybe another set of eyes can. Ultimately the games will propel NS2 to similar or possibly even greater heights, it all depends on the quality of games and so far the quality looks top notch. Mario Kart World looks leagues better than Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and nothing can be as infuriating as MK8 Deluxe's items probability. Time to jump ship to the goods micktitty

What's the general consensus on prince of Persia the lost crown. It's 20 bucks right now on the eshop which was my trigger price for it when it was announced .

Year 2 and 3 are where the Switch 2 needs to shine. Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem and 3D Mario hopefully release sooner rather than later.

$20 is usually a good price for a minor game. I don't know if you enjoy rushing games or not, but I find that if I can play a game for about 2-3 weeks then it was worth the purchase.
