This is genuinely fantastic.
Great graphics, music, animation, art design of monsters and world. It's fantastic.
Tachy is the best waifu ever and the costumes... hair physics.
I am overwhelmed lol. It's a real video games! Like we used to get on xbox 360 lol. Thank god and I only got through an opening.

Great graphics, great performance, great hero but the game for me is boring. Need to time these perfect parries or dodge, yawn, I'll pass. Sad though, I wanted to support this dev.

What kind of combat would you like to see in the game that wouldn't be boring?

Anything that doesnt rely on perfectly timed parries. I'm just sick of this shit.

I can't play it because I don't own a PS5 so I can't really assess it. But I'm with you regarding that point in general. Sekiro is the worst Souls game for me, the parry orgy got boring fast. I was super hyped for Lies of P and it's a very good game but I got annoyed by the crazy parry focus. I'm tired of it.

Having great base combat with good evades and distance management, and then having an optional parry like it Bloodborne - I'd be on board. But as the main aspect of the combat, not my jam.

The Stellar Blade demo is released today on PS5 and features 3 graphic modes.
- Performance mode applies a common 1440p resolution at a constant 60fps.
- Balanced mode renders at a common 1440p resolution with a 4K output using TAAU. Its framerate suffers some drop, but maintains its performance at 60fps normally.
- The resolution mode reaches 2160p in exchange for limiting the framerate to 30fps.
- As for the graphic settings, there are no significant changes between modes beyond the anisotropic filtering and the LOD of some distant textures.
- Shadow resolution, drawing distance, ambient occlusion or post-processing (among others) remain the same.
- The possibility of turn off the chromatic aberration effect, which (on a personal level) is exaggerated, is missing.-
As a recommendation, I would choose the performance or balanced mode. Given its nature, 30fps is not an option for a game as frenetic as Stellar Blade and its resolution difference is not that significant.

Nice to hear the initial impressions are good.

I was a little worried it would just be a tech demo-ish looker that was otherwise a generic character action game mainly getting publicity and fanfare due to proudly hearkening back to the times when T&A like this could be taken for granted. This industry is really undersexed unless you're a malfunction...

Will check out the demo tonight.

Played the demo today (as well as Sand Land, which was surprisingly fun and cozy).

The opening scene reminded me a lot of Platinum's Vanquish, with a HUGE battle going on. The designs of the ships and the technology are really cool, but the aliens and the architecture in the opening area feel kinda generic. Eh, can't win em all I guess. The combat feels slower and more methodical like Bloodborne or Lies of P, and less like a Devil May Cry or Nier: Automata.

I might snag this and finish a playthrough before I worry about jumping into Dragon's Dogma 2.

Seems like Parrying is this generation's 'Quick Time Event' or 'cinematically sliding between two walls' of the action genre.

Except the parry windows get smaller and smaller with each game. Lies of P had my throwing controller at the wall. Mostly because of animations without much of a windup.
This got some good parrying but the window is terrribly small. Something to be upgraded in the skill tree maybe

Parry timing was fine but only if you are looking right at the enemy. There isn't a good indicator for attacks coming in from other directions and since the game likes to throw crowds at you, I was getting hit from behind while trying to parry the bigger baddies. The smaller dudes have a tentacle-whip attack with more range than I first gave it credit for and that's what interrupted me the most.

I tried the demo. Combat is competent but nothing out of the ordinary. Visuals were nice.

I think the theme and the story are particularly interesting and as an overall package I will definitely be playing it sooner rather than later

All these hot takes that the creator of the game has never seen a woman. Here's Shift-UP CEO and game director Kim Hyung-Tae and his wife (who is a graphic designer):

Just finished the demo

This is a locked on buy, and not just because of the fanservice and anti wokeness in general.

The combat is satisfying, the setting is amazing, the characters are charismatic, the overall design and art direction is amazing and Eve herself is a likeable character who isn't an obnoxious bitch. It felt like I was nack in the PS2 days. Just amazing action, no bullshit, no infinite pretentious cutscenes and the music, my god, the music is breathtaking. Eve looking god as hell is the icing on the cake but this is a solid game, a solid experience. I hope this helps kill the western shitty trends.

This game has the key ingredient missing from 99% of modern trash: Love.

I think you're bang on with the it feels like a ps2 game but with modern graphics bit.

Speaking of ps2 and eve, anyone remember eve of extinction for ps2? For some reason that game really captivated my 10yo self lol

The bloody audacity of these people, telling us this is a character designed by people that have 'never seen a woman', when the only women they interact with on a regular basis are fat, ugly mutants and men in dresses.
They still think game developers (who aren't woke) are man-children who've never even known the touch of a woman.

Doesn't explain the late Sir Clive Sinclair though.
